RAB units vs. the cheap ones
I'm very satisfied with these RAB detectors and I'll explain. I have a fair amount of experience with motion detectors and here is my story. I've personally installed approximately 15 outdoor motion detectors of various types over a period of maybe 30 yrs. Most I've installed at my places of residence, but 5 at my mom's house. I used to go to Sear, Home Depot or Lowes and buy whatever was there. I've had mixed results with these items. Common problems include erratic sensing. On some nights they pick up movement and on others they don't. I've spent a lot of time adjusting settings, running through the setup routine, aiming the sensors, etc. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. I've also experienced units that simply fell apart after a few years or just stopped working. This is really aggravating. Recently I had two that broke whereby the little plastic windows that shield the sensor from the elements simply disintegrated. So, a few years ago I was doing some research on the internet and I came upon the RAB detectors. Their story sounded good. I tried one. Granted the price is about triple what you will pay at Home Depot, but I'm convinced now it's worth it. I have three of these units operating at my house now. They work flawlessly. I have never failed being detected by these units and on come the outdoor lights. They also seem to be consistent in cold or hot weather. I'm in Houston so upper 20s is cold and 100 is hot. The manual for these RAB units says they self adjust for temperature and humidity. It appears they've figured this out. The oldest unit I have is about 5yrs old and it's fine. In the future, I will continue to buy these units. I think they are well worth the money.

Not cheap junk from China
If you’re looking for a high quality product; This is it! Yeah it costs more, but it works great, and LASTS! Had my first one for 8 years. Still going! Bought another one for my front door lights. Better than the 20 dollar ones at the home despot. Good quality with many features and adjustments. BUY This!

Nicely built but very limited installation flexibility
I bought this sensor unit to replace to replace one damaged in Hurricane Matthew. This sensor is highly rated by other Amazon purchasers. The controls (sensitivity, time) are easy to find and set.I contacted the RAB technical support unit with questions. They were great, detailed, friendly and crystal clear with instructions regarding my installation wiring.I also purchased new spotlights from RAB lighting through Amazon, and will shortly install this sensor and the spots as a unit. I will provide an update.UPDATE: This sensor and the related spotlights will not work in my situation. I want the fixture to hang from the soffit in the corner of the garage, with the lights pointing only one direction. THIS UNIT WILL NOT WORK. The arms limit the flexibility in aiming the sensor and lights. The size of the light canopies further restricts aiming.I would recommend this unit only if you are mounting on a flat surface, like over a garage door, and want to illuminate a wide area.

Very happy with this purchase.
I was lighting a pole barn with 400 watts of light using the $20 sensor units from a big box store. I had to replace the sensors about every two years. The units were degraded from 500 to 300 watt load so I bought one of these RABs. The RAB is worth every penny. Trees blowing in the wind don't seem to trigger it and it has operated flawlessly for about six years.

Does Not Live Up to the Price
I purchased this unit to replace my 15 year old Heath/Zenith sensor hoping that the price would reflect better operating and sensing ability - I was wrong.Motion sensor manufacturers are liars in what they sell as to distance and when motion will turn on the lights, and sensitivity. I have never had any sensor live up to claims. The sensing ability is based on ideal weather conditions and 90 degree perpendicular motion to the infrared sensor - which only exists in the laboratory. This sensor is huge, which at first I thought would mean better operation, but it performed no better than the half size Heath. It is well constructed but still relies on the same technology than less expensive sensors. Customer service was good in answering questions and trying to help me - but in the end the unit just did not perform.I ended up returning it for refund as it was also defective, the unit would turn on the security light in daylight even when turned to max darkness setting.

Does what it's supposed to do. The "knuckle" joint at the wall seems a bit under-designed... but it works. This thing is designed for 10 AMPs, so my 500 Watt halogen flood will not kill this switch, as it did to a mere mortal 500 Watt-rated switch, after 4 years (by Heath).

Reviewing RAB Lighting STL110W Stealth 110 Sensor 110 Degrees View Detection, 1000W Power 120V White
It performs quite well but think it should be priced at least 10 dollars less.Although it has a 10 year warranty, still a bit over priced.
