It's working for me!
Had these in the car for a few months now during transition from summer to fall. They seem to be working well. I park outside under a Japanese maple. Had a mouse nest in the cabin air filter (killed the little guy when he got caught in the fan). I have faithfully applied new peppermint oil each month. I buy that at a local country grocer for $1.99 for two bottles (99 cents per bottle). One bottle fills both guardfathers. I placed one guardfather in the engine compartment on a support up near the windshield on passenger side of car (near cabin air filter). I put the other in the car in a storage spot under the dash (again near the cabin air filter). I don't find the peppermint odor in the car overpowering. It's rather nice. We live one house from a farm field, so field mice are plentiful here. I keep the lawn beside where I park mowed short so the critters don't have a spot to hide. Share that to say it helps to do whatever else you can to help make a less habitable spot for mice.

Bogus listing and sale
Seemed like a good solution to my mouse problem in vehicles. Not. Purchase arrived containing only the two small empty cans with a quarter size magnet attached. No Mouse repellent peppermint oil or sponge/cotton pads to insert in the cans. Amazon listing and description shows repellent oil and pads included and with photos. Small "Warranty" sheet in box says customer must provide own repellent oil and pads. Bogus listing and sale by seller. At $34.95 this product is vastly overpriced and would be even if the tiny "dram" of repellent oil and pads were included. One star review only because cannot post No Star review. Returned for refund.

Safe and sweetly refreshing smell
Here is a simple invention that really helps deter critters from nesting in your car and mower engine areas. The peppermint oil is proven to be effective and refreshes your car and garage while it does its work! The magnet is strong enough to withstand the bumps and bounces of Michigan roads and my 3 acre yard also. Love the idea!

Use with cotton balls/pads soaked in peppermint oil for under the hood of your NEW car.
Bought a new car, and some rodents decided to chew the SOY coated wires/harness under the hood. $500 later, purchased these and have been keeping peppermint oil on round cotton pads in them . So far so good!!

Needs stronger magnet
Needs a stronger magnet. One has already fallen off of the car.

A rip-off
What an absolute ripoff! Buy a four out ce bottle of oil for $8 and a couple of used cans or plastic containers. Sorry I got sucked in.

It works
So far we haven’t had any more mouse nests on our cars engine. We ordered after a mouse chewed through wiring in our neighbors car engine, and cost a bundle to fix.

Seems to work!
After all other methods failed to keep a mouse out of my engine, the guard father actually was successful. Three chewed wires before, zero after putting it in the engine.
