Social Media: Dominating Strategies for Social Media Marketing w

Waste of money
This book is a total waste of money. Too short, tool less information. Absolutely not useful. You can find more useful information in any social media blog than in this book. I am wondering how it could get one good review at all. It even has many...which I can not explain myself...

Terribly written. Poorly edited. Borderline unreadable.
I’ve seen a greater command of the English language in the essays of high schoolers. I’m using this book for a college course on social media and I have a suspicion that it is making me dumber. I hope my school gets rid of it “in future” (to quote the book itself). The irony is not lost on me when I say that it’s essentially the textbook equivalent of a poorly written Facebook comment. In both scenarios the writer asserts their intellectual dominance of a topic without first proofreading their error ridden ramblings. This ultimately subverts whatever pseudo intellectual argument they were making and is only valuable as comedy. Spending money on this book isn’t even worth the occasional laughs. I’m not the best editor or writer but even I know that saying, “In that case, if you create a centralized hub for your business in Facebook, don’t you think people will find it easier to access all that information in just one place?” is the incorrect way to ask a question. Assuming English is the authors first language, the butchering of said language is enough to question how this ever became the required text for a college course. Save your money, save your time, and help save the English language by not contributing to this atrocity.

and I have never used social media because I like my privacy
I am a 66 yo professionsal engineer, and I have never used social media because I like my privacy, and if I want to connect with friends I use email, phone, Skype and visiting. Therefore I have absolutely no experience with these platforms and I had hoped to get a bit of basic background. Reading this book was analogous to trying to do long division without knowing your multiplication tables - it assumes familiarity. However it does give some good advice for those who already have the basics, and I will be referring back to it once I get started. It just wasn't what I had been hoping for. Probably my fault, but it's not for the neophyte.

Not Too Good but Not Too Bad
Regarding its effectiveness, it is a good book for starters because it covers the main themes that the user should be doing to grow their social media properly, but it does not show specific tactics. Considering that, this leaves the user to choose how to do things, and opens up their creative marketing mind to the rest of the world.

This book seems to be a scam...
This book is basically a scam - a self-published poor compilation of poorly written free online information with lots of typos, grammatical errors and inconsistent spacing, printed in a large font and almost double-space so that it fills in more pages. Furthermore, you can't even figure out who did it - who is this Michael Richards and why is he in a position to advise anybody on anything is beyond comprehension. Even more difficult to comprehend is how on Earth did this book get so many 5 star reviews - that's what makes me think this is a scam. all of these reviews certainly fall under the category of judging the book by its cover, which (the cover) BTW is the only thing that's decent about this "book"... Anyway, as somebody wrote here, if you are from Mars or where born before the WWII, maybe you find it useful...
