I am an absolute beginner at belly dancing, as well as an "older" (but enthusiastic) student. I learn new skills best by following oral instructions, observing, AND reading step-by-step instructions. This book filled my need for the third level of learning. The instructions and accompanying photos are excellent, and will enhance the instructions I have received in class. To make practice more fun, the book includes dance routines incorporating the steps you've learned. I highly recommend this book.

I just received this book today and, already, I can't put it down! Dolphina's writing style is friendly and conversational making this book a delight to read. The description of the belly dance moves is spot on and easy to follow. I love the beautiful photos -kudos to Dolphina for chosing women of all shapes! I have all of Dolphina's dvds and use them to reinforce what I learn in my weekly belly dance classes. Now, I have her wonderful book to use as well. In fact, I intend to take this on vacation so I can keep up with my dancing! Thanks Dolphina, for producing such an invaluable reference book for belly dancers of all levels of experience! I certainly hope the publisher does a second printing of this book - I would love to give one to every woman I know.

Excellent book and well written. You can actually learn from this book, which is a nice change as most books you really can't learn too well from, but this one was different. Plenty of photos to help clarify how to execute each movement as well as descriptions that made sense and helped you understand how to move your hips and legs properly. Excellent resource for someone learning Raks Sharki, though certainly a book for beginners. Still, as with any dance form, I stress the importance of basics as most advanced moves are just combinations and variations on the simpler basic movements. If you know your basics well, then harder moves will come easier. Well worth the buy.

I used this book as a filler to lessons while I was traveling and I have to say that it did the trick. Dolphina makes it clear the moves she is expecting you to do and makes suggestions to practicing them that certainly made for a good physical and mental workout. I really love the photography and I like how the book progresses, containing 3 sections so that you can build up to a more difficult workout. The combinations are lovely and put together a very pretty dance once you are complete with drills. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is going to be without lessons &/or dvd access and doesn't want to lose their momentum.

Grateful to have another copy of this book. I love how it gives history and tips as well as technique. I know my students will be happy to see another one in this to you. Product came exactly as described.

Enjoyed this book which not only included explanations on bellydance technique (duh!), but it also gave some nice bellydance background, costume information, and music suggestions. Recommended! Shimmy on!!

I like her DVDs when I am in the mood :) so I wanted the book for the sake of walking through some moves that escaped me! Nice pictures and she isn't the only model/demonstrator which I like - each with a different body...

This book rocks! Like other readers I couldn't put it down. The instructions for the moves and routines are easy to follow. You can use this book to practice the new moves you had trouble with on a workout DVD or in a class. I highly recommend this book.

Niente di particolare ma piacevolissimo sia nel formato quadrato che nei contenuti che danno veramente delle ottime informazioni generali di base. Se volete un libro per iniziare vi consiglio proprio questo.
