There's a learning curve
Overall this is a great set. The crimper feels solid, and the big assortment of connectors is just what I needed. That said, making these adapters is trickier than expected! The included instructions are good, but be prepared to waste several pieces before you get it right (if you're an absolute noob like me).Look closely at the metal part for the little "tooth" that latches into the plastic part. It's easy to crush that in while crimping such that it won't secure to the connector. My workaround was to make sure that the latch/tooth was hanging about 1mm out of the "back" of the crimper before pressing down; when I aligned the metal pieces flush with the front, I kept mashing it.It's a bit arts-and-craftsy, but you can definitely get a hang of it with some practice. The crimper works great, it's me that could you some improvement!

I'm impressed-great crimper and well made connectors
I'm always impressed by the number of things we can get within a few days from Amazon. This connector and crimper set make me wonder how I would have gotten something like this 15 years ago. I have only crimped a few connectors and the crimper took worked great, the crimps look well made and snap tight into the housing. I would definitely buy again, but I assume I won't need to. The took seems well made.I have a crimper for standard .093 and .062 but it is too wide and smashes the small pins. This crimper allows the pin to it firmly in place while you push the wire in.

Very nice, Easy to use
Bought this so I could crimp some dupont connectors to connect some wires to header pins.I think this tool set is great value. The tool itself is very nice, operates smoothly, and feels high quality. There are also plenty of connectors and housings included. I like that it also comes with a storage box to keep everything together.I also appreciated the instructions that are included. If you are new to crimping these types of connectors (like I was) make sure to read these carefully and reference the diagrams/images for whichever type of connector you are crimping. The direction you feed the connector+wire into the tool does matter. After one false start (my first crimp attempt was unsuccessful due to me not reading the instructions), I read the instructions and was able to crimp multiple connectors successfully with no issues.

Nice kit and even the case works well
This is a well though out little kit of connectors and crimper -The crimper is easy to use and very clearly marked - it works as well as my others -The assortment of connectors and pins is a nice combination of commonly used connectors - and a decent handful of each.Especially since I usually only need one or two of these at a time to fix something, its a very convenient kit and the quantity of parts is very reasonable. Its really nice to have everything all in one place and not have to repackage anything - it's just ready to go.Often these cases are poorly thought out - parts get scrambled between bins, pins get mixed up unless you are super careful and the box barely survives shipping -Not so with this kit - its not a super sturdy case but its very functional - the top tray with the crimper keeps all the small pieces where they belong but still easy to access - the case is actually a keeper too.Well thought out convenient kit -

Excellent Kit!
I bought this for a project and I couldn't have asked for a better kit. The quality is top notch, and the variety of connectors is perfect. And what makes it even better is that they are priced great!

Great value for the money
This is a great deal for this set. Worked perfectly without a hitch. The case is also a LOT nicer than I thought it was going to be. All in all, if you in need of a way to make JST connectors, this is a great kit to get.

Great little set.
The hand tools work fine and the set includes everything you need.

Wow, fiddly and handle falls off...
The engineer in me wonders WHY no one has made a better tool for this process! This thing is challenging. Mind you this is my first time ever doing this with a 'real tool' instead of thinking I can make stuff work with pliers/needlenose. I've used other crimpers before and have mixed emotions out of them - no matter how hard or soft you crimp you're always hoping it works properly. After a few failures I got a 'die crimper' (I believe that's what these are called as you press into a formed die). But MAN this is fiddly...components are tiny...hard to get lodged into the device and really is a 3-handed tasks. Finally learned you could slightly crimp in the legs (arms...fins?) and get it to wedge into the dies and crimp to first click to hold, insert wire and crimp/pray! I had a few failures because big fat sausage fingers are always in the way - cannot see how far the wire is stuck...so hope you stripped it to the proper length. Handle kept falling off ruining things...or the pin would fall out...or the wire would fall out.Let's move to the instructions...NO REAL instruction of how to use...which components go with which plug...or the directions and alignments...so don't grab this in a rush and until you've had a lot of experience. Generally speaking the spike that pokes out of one side aligns with the small rectangular slot - and the male pins are always in the plugs with plastic around the end (where the female portion goes into). Of course, be sure to watch your pos/neg orientation (this wasn't that hard but you WILL be twisting and rotating and turning around a lot - so you could get it wrong). The instructions are basically half baked and you have to intuit the rest. The parts are labelled differently from the plugs vs the pins. That took some figuring out. How HARD IS IT to write RED MALE - WHITE FEMALE - BLACK MALE? Also fyi all the 'male' pins are identical...and the female pins are specific to the 'model' designations. Such as XH, SM, SYP - I suspect if you already 'know' all these it's much easier - for a total newb it wasn't.Instructions use a lot of vague terms such as 'small bit of clearance' - HOW MUCH clearance? We're talking quarter of millimeter distances here - grab my calipers? I realize I'm being dramatic but these were my thoughts as I struggled on first attempts. And pictures only show the black connectors and never really clear on which way is up and I wasn't using the black plugs (using the red ones). Just plan on a few failures your first attempt.I did manage to get some crimps once I figured out all the 79 muscles you need to coordinate and the slip out luck playing in your favor. Once crimped all but one made it into their respective spots. Total crimps 13...only needed 8. Some of that was because on a couple I stupidly demanded it accept 18awg...because I didn't read the product description well enough. And surprisingly I got that to work provided the insul was removed. On a good note the dies DO work - if you get them all aligned properly and in the right spots - my runs were 18awg (note beyond design limits); 20awg and 24awg. I used the C slot and all worked out okay. But really wish someone would invent a better tool for doing all this - this manual method is probably why communication engineers are batty! :)You'd best have some good eyesight, better lighting, and divine levels of patience. As for the 'product' - 2 tools, fiddly bits, and a case. The case I didn't like because the handle can't be held while opening - AND JUST YOU open one of these and have the fiddly bits fly all over and tell me you won't adopt a policy of HOLDING ON every time...the fact that the handle splits made this only marginally more annoying - good habit of closing each time is important...takes one wrong move to watch 300 bits go tumbling to the floor. Did like that the tool holder does prevent 52 card pickup - but you'll have that out while in use. What I didn't like:Handle falls off the crimper - I squirted some e6000 in there (great glue you should investigate) - hopefully this will be better next time.None of the product photos matched my unit - not that I really care the color of the plasticPhotos and descriptions of items on the case lid interior - don't match no consistency - took a marker and labelled red male, red female, and male/female for the plugs - this should have already been done by them - and something you may want to do too.No 'strip length' gauge. Now irrelevant (at the first usage seemed relevant). Not left handed - only works in one direction (these are my initial uses where I didn't want to fiddle with anything and screw it up - looking at it now it does appear as if the dies could be reversed for left handed use - I have not tried the tool in that orientation - and will likely do so on next use. I left this in what I didn't like because it was my mental state at the time of usage - I now consider it irrelevantTool has 'strength' adjustment...which I cannot fathom why that would be needed as the dies compress to the extent of the receiving die...and no further no matter how hard you squeeze once it bottoms out you're done. What I did like:Crimps if all aligned right turned out great - the two sizes within spec (20/24) worked great - and it managed to handle the 18awg I demanded of it.Once properly inserted all the pins and holes aligned - no trouble plugging and unplugging the end results. The case is good - despite my opinion on the handle - it is sturdy and houses everythingPrice, 38 aug2024 (do note that prices do vary by region) no discounts - I felt this price was a good value for what you get - I could have found a cheaper solution but this was getting good reviews and had a high volume of good reviews - I am another 'good' reviewer (but also a complainer).Strippers are good very sharpMy usage case thus far: Wiring plugs to battery shunts for solar system. It's nice to be able to disconnect loads when not in use - and I've not fully built my set up because there's LOTS of little bits they don't tell you about in the videos...such as bus bars, lugs, crimpers/dimplers, fuse holders! :) Also limited on how much I can buy each paycheck...so it's been a slow process building up all the necessary tools and kits that others have already invested in.I didn't count the quantities of plugs...I needed two for this first task - and while figuring out which was which (maybe 2 plugs, but it's 4 sides and 8 pins total; plus testing, fails, and sacrificial ones - lots of alignment and fiddly about it all). All in all though I DO HAVE 2 good working plugs.3 stars because of the poor labeling; poor instructions; handle falling off - not lower because it does what it claims - despite photos being incorrect on amzn page - and does appear to have all the parts. Though I suspect no spares...so you might find the kit runs out of stuff if you have failures like I did - I believe once the pins are set you can press in the spike to get them out - meaning plugs are removable if you acquire new crimp pins.Good luck and take care.Edit: correction (don't feel like reading through to find where I said that, sorry; it's kind of irrelevant but I prefer to be as honest/accurate as possible) - I said needed red plugs but it was 1 red plug (m/f) and 1 black (m/f) both 2 conductor. Problem was the method I used previously caused me to short the battery + to negative if I didn't pay attention when connecting...as well there was exposed contact surfaces - I used barrel jacks - the combination of which created some risks (since learned about; and now fixed with these plugs). Also to include: Now that I have this kit I have ideas for solutions to past problems that I've had - the white XH plugs will come in handy. Most of my usage will be small electronics projects - not into R/C drones or cars where these types of plugs would be great for - but they're great for my projects too.

Works as expected
Crimps come out fine with this crimp tool and I have no complaints about the connectors either!
