Chances (The Divine Corruption Series)

It's been maybe a little too long since I've read a unique banger of Lee's, it's basically a monthly requirement. Falling behind is bad for your health. I was sick from it. Lol, moving on.So, I was super curious to see how this Batman inspired take was going to be told. A retelling away from fairy tales was going to be a fresh breath and I knew Lee was going to knock it out of the park. It's always exciting to where her stories go and they always suck me right in.Off the bat, no pun intended, I LOVED Lucien. He exhibited patience and understanding for both his and Sabreena's situation. He was surprisingly measured for a character that's notorious for leaving things to chance.The spicy scenes were fantastic and I liked the pace of the book and the build of the story. I can't wait to see what we get with book 2!

If you like Lee's novellas, add a lot more room for a complicated plot with the same level of spice, and you're going to be so happy.Lucian is overly restrained, carefully coping with trauma, and instantly falls for the woman he's supposed to be collecting to deliver to his boss...so they can get married. Sabreena has zero interest in the mob life and has resisted it as much as she can, but with some well-timed betrayal, she's thrust into it deep. Her only solace is the connection she feels with Lucian.This is some star-crossed angsty pain even as the two of them give in and explore that Sabreena has always been pretending to be vanilla. The spice will burn you to ashes, and also knowing how much it means to them both on a relationship building level is why it's that extra dash of amazing. Still, this one is gonna hurt for a bit before we get to their happy ending. It also leaves just enough questions unanswered to lead you into the rest of the series.

This was my first Lee Jacquot novel and random read, but worth the ride. I haven't read a book in a long while that kept me up at 3am. This " mobster trope" had the right about of danger, forbidden love, arrangements/situationship, smut, and swooning love. Lucian and Sabreena instant attraction had me rooting for them. I absolutely love Sabreena and Nique friendship, which was evident from their first chapters. The family dynamics, the strained mother daughter relationship, self relfection/ Forgivness, and therapy was well done in the book. Lastly, the writing was easy and smooth. Look forward to book 2!

Lee freakin did it again. Lucian had me in his palm from the start and that only grew with the more about him that he shared. Honestly even if you’re not a fan of Batman or the villains in the comics, this is still such a good read because it’s not as delved into all that as you’d think. It’s got the elements and it’s done so very well.I think one thing I loved so much is how nothing of their relationship is how nothing comes to them easily and they both have to show up and fight for it, even their HEA has then fighting to the end for it. It keeps in theme with the rest of their story because even thought it’s not wrapped in pretty wrapping paper it’s enough that makes them both thoroughly happy.

The steam in this one is off the charts! Mob bosses, sexy lawyers on the mobs payroll, the mafia princess who has avoided being sucked into the darkness. Until her family decides its time for her to do her part to better the family business.... By marrying the don her cousin refused to. In the process she comes in contact with the Don's sexy lawyer and they both catch feelings. I swear I was holding my breath the last three chapters! This series is going to be outstanding! Chances just might be my favorite book of 2022!

Lee Jacquot never misses!! Complex characters and layered storytelling with lots of spice makes this take on a Batman villain swoon-worthy and a quick, easy read.One of the characters has my heart, but it isn't the protagonist, though 👀

I downloaded this book based off one TikTok. I wasn't expecting much, just to ride the wave until the scene I downloaded it for came. I stayed up until 130 am to finish it lol. I couldn't put it down. The anxiety of everything, the tension between characters. Obsessed. It's really well written and obviously carefully written. I could reread this book any day of the week. The spicy scenes were 😙🤌

This woman can write the dang thing always. She never misses. Love every single on of her books and this is no exception. Always unique story lines and characters who just jump off the pages. Lucian was amazingggg. He is what we always wanted in a book boyfriend. Morally grey, beautifully broken but honestly so good to his core. Don’t miss out on this series. It’s gonna be a good one.

Ok I really liked this book. The forbidden relationship is not your ordinary one and loved how the two characters decided to still engage in a relationship all things considered. The tension between Lucian and Sabreena is really good and their open communication is such a refreshing thing to see in a book. This is a new author for me but I will be reading more from her as I truly enjoy the writing.
