I travel a few times a year to visit my family in Asia. I find that a good travel pillow makes the trip so much better. What matters to me is the balance of comfort and portability. I don't want to lug around an unsightly travel pillow around the airport distracting and obscuring my beautiful Tumi International carry-on.For portability, this pillow gets a five star; it is thin and a little flexible and can be slip into a carry-on side pocket without a big bulge. The height of the pillow is about 4" tall and 8" wide. The thinness of the pillow allows for items to be packed around it and not totally taking up the space.For comfort, the pillow has about 1/4" of memory foam around the core. The open design does not make me unforgettable from accumulation of heat. I had a little problem with using it with my over-the-ear noise cancelling headphone but it was workable. The area comfort gets 4 start because of no support for the chin or the opposite side of the pillow.

I'm 6' tall and apparently my neck is longer than the target customers of this pillow.It works fine only with a 1-2 inch thick padding between my shoulder and it, otherwise it's too low to keep my head/neck in a comfortable angle.Also when I tried to place it on my shoulder stably, the strap bit into my arm pit, so I needed another pad for that.With that being said though, it without those pads still provides way better support than regular U-shape travel pillows.Plus, the pillow is very soft yet firm enough with a plastic insert in it.Because of that insert, you can't squeeze it into a tiny bag as often you do to regular U-pillows. But it's small enough to slip in your carry-on bag.It's good, but unfortunately, not the best for me.

I've used two or three different travel pillows and so far, this one is the best as the strap under your arm holds it in place. I found it supported my head quite well, allowing me to sleep without waking up with a sore neck. It's a bit of work to get the strap done up under your arm as you have to pass one end around your back, but I managed it without disturbing my seat mates. Also I had to have the strap pulled quite tight to give my head enough support, so I worry that it won't be long before the stitching holding the strap in place will give way. So far I've only used it on an overnight flight from the US to the UK, but early next year I will be testing it on a long haul flight from LA to Sydney.

I can see that it may be good for some ppl with short neck but it didn't do anything for me.

I found that using this as a neck pillow was uncomfortable and awkward. I'm 5'4" and have a slightly longer neck, not sure if others with different dimensions would have a more favorable opinion. This is an item that will work differently for everyone so it may be best to get it and try it on in order to decide. I've probably bought 10 different kinds of travel pillows to find what works for me. I fly weekly for work and am often on long-haul flights so I wanted something to help me sleep on a long flight - this was no easy task.Consider ordering and trying it on - I know that's not super helpful but we're all different shapes and sizes and w/ so many travel pillow options out there it's important to try a few styles to find the right fit.I did find this to be pretty comfortable as lumbar support.

I bought it after seeing reviews labeling it as 'the greatest travel pillow'.It was OK.It was better than the standard travel pillow but not enough to keep me asleep during the flight.

This pillow works better than previous U shaped next pillows that I have tried before. Connecting the strap, while in an airplane seat, is easy. Slightly wider straps would be an improvement, but the current ones work pretty well. The top and bottom of the pillow has a U shaped cut out. This keeps it from rolling off your neck, or your head rolling off. The only downside is that the pillow makes it less comfortable to put your head back on the seat.... I kind of wanted the option to sleep on the pillow or seat without removing the pillow.
