If I had a hammer
A new Marvel comics movie. Another one featuring Thor. Not a jumping on point, but you've all watched the previous films so that doesn't really matter.Thor is looking for purpose. Valkyrie is rather in need of the same. Jane Foster is terminally ill. She needs a miracle. And she takes a chance.Meanwhile, in another movie, Gorr the God Butcher was let down by his god. So he's going to kill them all.Everyone will collide, and worlds and people will never be the same...etc....etcThis goes for the comedic tone as Thor Ragnarok did. It also has to bring in serious bits such as what's going on with Jane. And Gorr the God Butchers ultimate quest.Question is, does the disparity of the shifting tone work? That is going to be a matter of individual opinion. As you will see from other reviews, some don't think it does. The comedy is more broader and prevalent than in Thor Ragnarok. There's also Jane being a tough warrior with special powers. This does come directly from Marvel comics of a while back, so it has been taken from there and you can't really get at the 'woke social justice pc lobby' for it.Korg narrates. You get to hear him a lot. Valkyrie tags along in search of a sub plot.I give it four stars because I did enjoy it, did quite like the humour, and did think it pulled the serious parts in quite well. Although Valkyrie as mentioned could have been left out the film and it wouldn't really have been affected. Because it just doesn't do anything with her. Whereas all the other characters have completed a lot of development by the end.Added to which, where the four Marvel movies from last year all started to feel a bit samey and lacking in jeopardy to me, this - like the Dr. Strange sequel - does manage to feel a bit more directorial driven and individualistic. And it does have a bit of jeopardy or two, which was sorely needed. It's also nigh on stand alone, not trying to set anything up, and just getting to tell it's own story. Would that Eternals could have managed the same.Like you won't give it a go? Just be aware of all the above if you do. Also be aware there's flashing lights at a few points. Which isn't good for some people. And at least not a single one of the one star reviews is moaning about lack of 3D! Have people finally learned the meaning of the phrase 'review the product?'. Here's hoping. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English. Spanish. English audio described.Subtitles: English, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish. The disc begins with the usual Marvel opening. You can't skip this so will have to sit through it.There are no extras at all.

It Exhausts Me
This film made a joke out a character who could have and should have had more depth and respect. As with its predecessor Ragnarok, this film makes light of the heavy moments and draws out its unfunny comedy scenes with what feels like forced improv from actors who clearly don't know how to do it. The music is reminiscent of Guardians but doesn't work because Thor is a Scandinavian God, not an old-school kid from America using his music to maintain a connection to his home-world and mother. This movie was "adapted" (and I use that term lightly) from two of the darkest Thor story lines. Thor: The God Butcher and Thor: Goddess of Thunder. Not that it carries over the deep themes of purpose from God Butcher, or the themes of heroism, identity and sacrifice from Goddess of Thunder. No, it's just Thor going on an obnoxious journal of self discovery (which he didn't really need) with characters who I could not care about. Valkyrie is not a respectable character, Jane was never my favourite love interest, Sif is a joke - in fact the whole of Asgard is a joke. Astrid (which I thought was a girl's name) only helps me to understand why Heimdall never mentioned he had a son. And Korg. Oh, Korg. People found you funny with your rambling and your sweet humility. I never found him funny. Less so knowing he is the stand-in for the director. I hate this character the most. I do like this movie. I felt the hours tick by before I could finally stop watching. This is by far the worst film. I'll say it now: Thor 1 was the better film.

Bit daft in places but still enjoyable.
I already knew from the trailers and reviews that this was going to be a lighter adventure than previous Thor films. (If I wasn't prepared though I might've been disappointed because this is VERY jokey.) However, for a mere £6.99 it was a very enjoyable and undemanding way to pass a Bank Holiday afternoon. I didn't mind the 'silliness' at all. It was good fun. The exceptional cast really carried the humour well and I laughed out loud several times (always a good test when you're on your own). Do stay for all the post credit scenes too. ;)

Liked for unexpected outcome
All Marvel moves are a favorite in this house, Thor is especially liked from original avengers. This movie had a being changing/growing, action, love, hope, peace, and a very unexpected ending. Due to covid I am unable to see this in theaters so it was great to see it at home.

Wurde gut verpackt geliefert und war ein Wunsch des Enkels. Der Enkel war begeistert und zufrieden, obwohl er den Film schon einmal gesehen hat. Als Oma gebe ich keine Bewertung ab.
