Crime boss' son falls for a down-on-her-luck girl
First, let me start by saying that this book isn't a standalone with Book 1 leaving things up in the air. There's not a cliffhanger, as such, but Mercy and Gabriel's story isn't finished. Gabriel sets eyes on Mercy while visiting his father in prison. She's also visiting her father and upset because it appears he's been in a fight. Seeing an opportunity to manipulate the situation (which is a bit weird because he never really even tried to ask her out), Gabriel propositions Mercy under the premise that he has the power to protect her father on the inside. She eventually accepts and the rest of the story revolves around the dynamics between the two as the deal involves Mercy staying at Gabriel's house, sleeping in his bed, for a week. It sounds like a dark read but it really wasn't - more on this below.I found the book description a little misleading. Firstly, her father was convicted of a crime that he absolutely did commit. It was a justifiable murder and he got a rotten deal as the result of a terrible lawyer and being poor, but he did actually kill someone to protect his daughter. Secondly, Gabriel is described as being a pretentious liar. I've got no idea why because there wasn't lying through the story. Thirdly, the blurb gives the impression Mercy is a prisoner in Gabriel's house - she's not. She's free to go to work and classes and their deal is only for a week, so I think the author took a bit of creative license with her description. Finally, there was no ruthless spark from Gabriel apart from him trying to get her to agree to live with him for a week. He didn't take advantage of her at all and was mostly pretty sweet and kind to Mercy. She offered herself to him and he turned her down as he wouldn't sleep with her unless she was willing. This stopped it from being an overly dark read for me, but it was still enjoyable. There's not a lot of action between Mercy and Gabriel until 80% or so, but the book has plenty of gratuitous sex scenes due to a promiscuous brother and mutual friends that get up to all kinds of activities at their shared mansion. Their relationship is pretty much built on sexual tension as they both want each other but Mercy tries not to give in. Usually I hate it when the heroine is so in lust with her 'captor' that she forgives their behaviour and gives into them but the author did a good job of making their relationship pretty mutual apart from the circumstances that led to Mercy staying with Gabriel. She was a pretty strong character and he didn't move heavily into jerk territory so it worked.Gabriel was dirty talking, made no apologies for wanting Mercy and was jealous and possessive (but not excessively so). I'll warn readers, though, that Gabriel is with at least one other woman after meeting Mercy. They weren't together so it didn't bother me but I know some people prefer to avoid this. Some of the tension between the two was pretty hot and the writing was solid throughout the book. I took a star off because of the book description and due to the fact that there was quite a bit of repetition in the book, mainly around Mercy's constant pondering about Gabriel's family's criminal lifestyle. There was a lot of 'I'm so attracted to him but I can't be because his father is an infamous crime boss and they possibly sell drugs and are morally corrupt and really rich so there could never be anything serious between us'. This came up a lot and was laid on a bit thick. The book finishes just after 90% with an excerpt from the next book but the story was a decent length. While it wasn't a conventional hostage situation, it was an entertaining read and I enjoyed the relationship between Gabriel and Mercy. I'll be continuing on with the next book.

Utterly Addicting Romance!
Hot DANG!! This book is seriously steamy and deliciously dirty, I was addicted to the story and the corrupt world of the Empire nightclub. Gabriel and Mercy’s romance is one that had me fanning myself one minute and the next intrigued by the debaucery of the seedy underground of the drug industry. What is it about a dangerous man that has me falling so hard? With the name of an angel and a body made for sin, Gabriel Easton is the last man Mercy Wheeler needs in her life. With her father in prison for an accidental murder, she is willing to do anything to keep him safe while she figures out a way to appeal his sentence. With an indecent proposal from Gabriel, whose morals and family are anything but admirable, Mercy’s life will never be the same.“This is just a business deal—my body for my father’s safety.”Her strong yet sassy attitude is the perfect match for Gabriel’s arrogant and self assured demeanor, the push and pull leads to some seriously HOT chemistry, definitely ramping up the steam with each encounter. Before Mercy, Gabriel and his brother Caleb, never had a shortage of women, mostly naked, at their beck and call. I’m excited to see where the story goes in the next book, can Mercy tame the beast that is Gabriel Easton?

The blurb sounds so good but I was a little disappointed
After reading her book tempt me I couldn't wait to read this other book series. However I did not enjoy it as much I wanted to but will continue reading book series too which hopefully it gets better. I understand that the MMC is a man whore but the constant telling me that every woman wants him every day, every other day,and every week gets annoying after a while.

This one grew on me
I wasn't sure what to expecting the story grew on me and got better. For some reason I didn't realize there was more than one book. Lately I'm tired of lengthy stories so I'll see how it goes. Both characters were interesting. They didn't unfold a lot yet. Mercy was a bit much with her tough girl attitude but really what did she expect from Gabriel. I uninhAbited was more intense and tell fast to his annoyance. But it was a good start to setting the stage for what's to come.

Hate to cut this short but I need to be reading the next book!!!
Do you know when you pick up a book and just know that you're going to love it?Yeah, that totally happened with Sweet Mercy. As always i went in completely blind with this. I don't even know if I've heard buzz about it but I really just needed to read it. Its called a dark romance and IMO it was pretty tame but I could see how others may find this one dark.Mercy's life hasn't been easy her mom died of an overdose when she was young. Her father is only a few weeks into a 22 year bid for murder. Listen, her dad got a raw deal. He killed a man for attacking his daughter. But now she struggling. Seeing her father week after week bruised and broken. Knowing the system screwed them and everything else in her life falling apart.Gabriel is tired of the family business and his father. He wants to go straight, but even from prison, his dad is pulling the strings. The best thing about their visits is Mercy. It's definitely a lust at first sight situation.Gabriel turns out to be a better guy than Mercy imagined. Hell, he was kinder than I was expecting. And I love him. This book was sooo good I really cannot wait to jump into the next book!

Sweet sweet Mercy
I love KA Tuckers books. They are so real and honest. Unlike the previous books that I have read that have been more tame romance, this one is on the raunchy, pleasurable, dirtier side and oh so explosively good. A delectable way to send a day.

When starting this book it took me a little while to really get into it, not immediately connecting with the writing. Since I was nursing a book hangover from Wolf Hotel I decided to stick with it, and holy man am I ever glad I did. This book is H. O. T.I passed out with my kindle app open in the early hours of the morning and woke up at the crack of dawn to start reading again.Needless to say my hubby woke up to find me ready 🥵This is a 4.5 stars for me.
