interesting book with lots of tips, helpful information's and lots of illustrated photos. I would surely recommend it to other buyers.

A Very Good Book On Goldfish

I was recommended this book by my local aquatics centre as being one of the best guides around for cold water goldfish keeping and ordered it with anticipation. However, I'm dissapointed. I hadnt realised it was so old (published in 1999)and much information is now out of date. There is also a lot of information missing, especially around resolving difficulties you might encounter, such as problematic water chemistry for example. There is no information on fish behaviour and the information about fish diseases/illness doesnt provide you with any indication of how to treat these if they occur. The tank 'set-ups' and equipment demonstrated are also hopelessly out of date. I have found out more of the information I've needed by looking on blog sites and checking with my local 'Pets at Home' store. Dont buy this book, it isnt informative or relevant enough to seriously satisfy.

I was very disappointed by the limited number of species covered. Pike, perch, eels, common carp, sterlet, etc do not feature, and golden orfe, roach, rudd and tench only get a few lines each. The book is OK for goldfish and koi carp.
