In response to my original review below, Cryspool issued a full refund and sent me a brand new filter element at no charge. As it turned out, the original filter element had became clogged with some kind of slimy film build-up between each of the filter's pleats/cells. Instead of just hosing down, I mixed some liquid laundry detergent with water and used a long-bristle stiff brush (and old tooth brush) to scrub between each pleat/cell. This took about a 1/2 hour, but I was able to scrub out most of whatever the slimy build-up was. This was about 2 weeks ago. The pool water has been pumping great since then and the filter is no longer constantly clogging up or restricting the water flow like it had before scrubbing it. So just in case your Cryspool filter element is constantly clogging up and restricting your pump's water flow, take the time to give it a good scrubbing, hose it down, re-install, and it should perform like new again!Original Review: Bought this back in October 2023. I recently drained and acid washed our 17,000-gallon pool. There was a lot of loose sand-like Marcite that had washed down from the pool walls. I was able to use a wet-vac and vacuum all the loose material and remaining water prior to refilling I hosed down the filter element but noticed it seemed heavier than normal even after cleaning it. Upon refilling and running the pump for a few hours I noticed the pool water was not circulating much. So I took the filter element out to inspect and it appeared clean. I pressure hosed it down again anyways. The water started circulating better, but after a few hours it slowed way down again. Apparently the filter element is saturated and keeps clogging after just a short while. I then noticed on this site it is recommended this element be replaced every 3 months. That's ridiculous! They should last at least 12 months. Not sure what material this Cryspool filter element is made of but it doesn't last long. Decided to order a different brand filter (actually lower price) that recommends replacing it every 12 to 18 months. Note my pool is also screen enclosed so no debris from trees or other plants gets in that might shorten the life of the filter.

I moved into the house and had to learn about pool care. I eventually got around to the filter and noticed the existing one was very dirty. I replaced it with this one and the pump pressure dropped in half and the water flow over my waterfall doubled.

Checked my local pool stores first. This is a great value.
