I bought this hair chalk comb for my 6-year daughter's birthday party. The colors are diverse. My daughter wanted to have colorful braids, so I took a small strand of hair, and dyed it to red, then let her hold it. Then I dyed another strand to blue, after that I take some of hair and dye it to orange covered by green. At last I braided three hairs into a braid, so that the colored braids was completed. Some kids like colored dice, so they dyed each other at that afternoon. They were so excited. It is convenient and does not mess. I don’t put on gloves when I dyed her hair. I just use water and hand sanitize wash my hand, and then the colors have gone totally to the hairs. However, it is important to note that children need to wash hair before going to bed, otherwise they may stain the pillow. After all, it is really a good choice for party.

Used this for my little ones first play date slumber party… wound up with three disappointed little girls. This chalk did not transfer to any of their hair… until my husband gave it a whirl and used a bit of force… which wound up pulling hair out. My three year old tolerated this the best - and what little did color wound up feeling like we bleached her hair multiple times and took at least five washes to feel like normal (note that the color didn’t last that long). My six year old who didn’t tolerate it well didn’t have any color transfer.Don’t waste your time or money on this - if you want to thin your child’s hair, there’s much more painless ways to do it. If you want to disappoint your kiddos, this is the purchase for you!

The instructions I got were the opposite of what it says on the Amazon posting. Look. If you do it on dry hair you’re going to have a nightmare on your hands. That’s what our directions said and I about cried. It was fun and silly at first, we had great luck with the pigmentation of the colors on blonde hair. The instructions said to not sleep or touch anything with your hair because the dye could get on everything, so we tested it at night before going to bed because it said simply wash it out with soap and water….yeah no…it was like we were pasting our hair into globs with mud and then it took me 10 times (no joke not even exaggerating here) to get it MOSTLY out with shampoo.Don’t do what we did.

So I say get it. Neighborhood kids were dying their hair. My son said he wanted to do it too. I don't like hair dyes for alot of reasons including his dad, my ex, said no he didn't like it. But he wanted to match his best friend.The comb thing is terrible but my son figured out you can take the chalk out. THIS MADE IT SO MUCH QUICKER and easier. Take the end cap off as in pic and shake the chalk out.You need the gloves it comes with. My hands go numb so I just kept the chalk moving up and down the hair strands and it deposited well!! Better than I thought...I flicked it up from the roots on shorter hairs.It wasn't real gunky.It is NOT easy wash. He wanted to go swimming in our kiddie pool later so I told him to wash...he washed 3 x with baby shampoo.. it became tacky!!I did some research...dandruff shampoo plus a handful of baking soda...I poured baking soda all over his head. Then globbed dandruff shampoo on top of it and worked it through!RINSE, RINSE, RINSEWatch their eyes dandruff shampoo is NOT GENTLE i got a few red streaks on my white bathrobe when he grabbed it to wipe his eyes.Got everything!!So definitely worth the money for quick , temporary fun.

Impressed by the hair chalk. I purchased this item because of a party for young girls who wanted their hair done to help them to stand out. The item contain 6 color comb . The girls natural hair colors ranged from light brown to very dark brown hair. I applied the chalk as only top layer of their hair, I used all colors on each of them. Some colors showed up better on some shades brown, but I wasn't caking it on thick. One box was enough to do 3 girls hair (1 long, 2 medium) . These do work on darker hair. You need to apply a lot of pressure and go over the hair many times but they will show up. I blow their hair with hair dryer after dye so it is not sticky as before. It was washed out very easily with water and shampoo.

The chalk barely scrapped off on to the hair. Had to utilize water and forceful pressure. Will not be buying again. We haven't even used the first two colors up.

this was a Christmas gift for my 12 year old granddaughter. she loved them! Said they all showed through in her hair, "even the yellow". her hair is a med brown color and she tried them all the first night. Since she has been saving them "so i don't run out when i want them for special days" so promised will be sure she gets a refill since birthday is coming up. She even did my hair and i have to admit, i could see the color as well, though most of what she did was in back so was using a mirror. Would definitely recommend them. She did say used on dry hair as recommended, plus she was afraid wet or damp would make the chalk melt away faster.

I was iffy at first when we opened these. This was a Christmas present for my daughter. We did pink and blue then we did my hair if it’s darker hair does take a few times to get the color to pull but stayed in my hair several days. I had curled my hair and even stayed with the heat. I think the heat made it more vibrant. We love these . The trick is to get smaller stands and go over the strand several times in some spots I had to almost tease it type method to get it to show but over all I think she loved them. We match all the time .
