Delightful Rascals
This is a delightful and innovative story of toddlers who follow their new friend Benny to form a band that marches out of their day care center and into town for an adventure. Gerber's rhymes capture the mischievous rascals perfectly. A story book parents and, in this case, grandparents will enjoy reading to their youngsters.

Gerber's text makes the whole world seem like a playground
This is such a delightful take on making friends and discovering the world together as little ones. Gerber's text makes the whole world seem like a playground, and Dyer's illustrations bring that to life with such vibrancy.

Follow a group of nursery children on an adventure
A Band of Babies offers a rhythmic tale about a group of nursery children who follow a charismatic young child named Benny as he leads them on an adventure beginning with a marching band. He leads them to the local grocer where they create quite the commotion. Spilled fruit, unraveled rolls of toilet paper, giggles and more before Benny leads them all safely to the nursery for a nap.The verse is clever and at first, I worried about these unsupervised toddlers, but the pastel illustrations show us a harried worker following the group. Princess Sophia and Clayton liked the verse well enough, and the mess at the grocer provided a giggle. The illustrations are beautiful, but their gentle and soothing qualities don’t quite match up to the vibrant texts.

A fun read for toddlers and parents
A fun read for toddlers and parents. The very young will enjoy following the band of babies as they progress through the story, listening to the rhythmic text and seeing the delightful illustrations.

adorable but horrible
The illustrations are appealing, the language sounds terrific, but NO WAY do I want to share this story with two-year-olds absorbing, learning, figuring out how to behave in the world, sponging up how things work from everything they're exposed to. I have no good way to discuss this book with them. Yes, a single care provider follows and oversees the band, but just stands by while they trash the store. The expression on the store keeper's face is the only reasonable depiction in the babies' field trip. It's ridiculous this got published! Toddlers are pretty literal thinkers. They don't need something like this at all.
