Good amendment to other soils
Orchid bark is a good amendment to other soil.It’s good for drainage and aeration for plants that like air and roominess.

This is what I’ve been looking for in a orchid bark mix. Just what it says black gold. It’s just the right size bark. Love it for making my own potting mix.

Not enough bark
I normally rate Black Gold at the top for houshold soils, but this one misses the mark. Its too dense! It needs more small bark pieces. This will compact quickly. I mixed in a little more small bark and it was perfect. Other than that, its great.It works reallly well for amending cactus and succulent soil that needs a little more loam.

The best orchid soil
I really like this soil for orchids. I've been growing them for years and never really liked the bark type products.This is light and a very rich consistency.We'll see how the plants like it.
