These are great reels! I got a chance to pull on some game fish this weekend and the drag is so smooth! The body seems a little smaller than the old model but still holds a good amount of line. Price was also about $20 cheaper than my local sporting goods store.

Great value
Shimano always makes a quality product even with these affordable reels. I love them, they fish great and I don’t have to spend a fortune

After 11 months of use, this is probably one of my least favorite reels. Mainly because the drag gets jerky when I go above 5 lbs of drag. I have taken it apart multiple times and cleaned the drag washers and drag plates and applied cals drag grease and it’s still jerky. Plus the freespool is still junk after I took the shields off the spool bearings, cleaned them out with carb cleaner and dripped tsi321. After all that, I took it to shimano service center and it came back with the same exact issues. I even mentioned both problems and they didn’t fix either. I feel like they want the toriums to be perform bad in order to make the Trinidad’s shine. I have a trinidad 20a and a tranx 500hg and when they come back from service they have VERY smooth drag and good freespool. So basically I would recommend not buying Any size shimano torium. Save up and get a trinidad instead but I even feel like those are waaayyy over hyped and over priced. Get an Okuma Tesoro instead of any shimano junk.

Great reel design
Very nice. Will fish it for all my inshore favorites. Might eventually get a second one.

Disappointed
Bought this for inshore bottom fishing. Out of the box, it was not smooth and had a whirring sound like a bad bearing or misaligned gear. Requested a return. I owned several previous generation Toriums that were mostly flawless.

Ehh. Good enough unless you need more than 10lbs of drag
The good is it is more wrgonomic and slightly smoother than the old torium 14. The bad 2 clicks away from the star bottoming out is 7.5lbs of drag. No where near the rated max drag.
