This is my second bat house and I'm trying a different brand to see which has more success. Bats can be finicky about their homes and getting them to move in can take some time. This house arrived in good condition and included extra screens if the original screen ever needs to be replaced. The design and construction is fine for a bat house. Plenty of screws to hold it together and the joints are tight. I added four additional mounting holes because one just isn't enough... two more on the top and two more on the bottom. You want to be sure this house stays mounted firmly to the pole or tree. The back is one solid piece of wood which surprised me for a house of this size. The inside compartments are smooth and free of any construction fasteners. I'm pleased with this house and would recommend it to a friend. I'm going to mount it on a utility pole, facing south, and hope some bats move in. Time will well.

made of cedar
After buying this and installing, I learned that bat houses need to be constructed with the partition running the length of the unit not the width. I also learned that bats do not like to live in cedar. It will be a year or two before the cedar odor is gone. OH, I was also told, that it is better to not use the mesh for them to use like a ladder. Even though the unit comes with replacements, that means I will need to disrupt the bats for repair the mesh that gets all gunky from the guano. Oh well, it was economical. I get what I pay for.

The bat house is very pretty. My concern is that the DNR website says that bat houses should be caulked around the seems to keep rain/snow out, especially around the roof. This bat house has a gap between the roof and backboard. I will probably just caulk it myself because it's way to pretty to return.

great size for a bat house---not one of the "miniature ones." Came with extra webbing; easy to get into to replace webbing. Good quality wood. Love this bat house!!!

The triple chamber is magnificent.
Looks great and I bet my father will be thrilled to get it for his birthday. I buy him unique presents and this will surely be a hit.
