My Happy Marriage (manga) 03

So the first book I had to return. Because it had to ink errors in that and then they gave me a replacement. So overall, I would say it's pretty good service and all is perfect. there is really nothing they could have done about the ink error . That's the manufacturer's fault, not. The person that sells it. But I'm so happy I get to read it now

I received this volume in May but put off reading it until now. That was a mistake as I thought this was another strong volume of what has proven a strong series. Miyo's family has decided to end the happiness she was enjoying in Lord Kuda's household but to borrow from Stephen King, Miyo is a little like Carrie; take away the first happiness she's known and she's going to fight back. Miyo might not have telekinesis but she is unexpectedly strong. Lord Kuda also makes it clear he will defend his fiancee. Back at the Kuda estate, Miyo needs lessons in being a lady in society, so her fiancee's sister Keiko shows up as tutor. She is a bright presence but Miyo admits being jealous of the good natured bantering between brother and sister. It's so unlike her family which was at best apathetic and at worst violent towards Miyo. Meanwhile, a new threat is building but we will have to wait until the next volume to learn more about that. Next time, I don't think I will delay reading My Happy Marriage.

I liked this one but, not as much as the first two volumes. It just fell a little flat.Trigger Warnings: Fire/Fire injury, Confinement, Kidnapping, Physical abuse, Emotional abuse, Grief, Toxic relationship, Classism, and Violence

The description, “ A Cinderella-inspired, slow-burn historical romance with a paranormal twist set in Taisho-era Japan!” with emphasis on the “slow-burn” describes this series perfectly. I wish the pace was a little faster, but I’m happy that by the third book her family got a taste of their own medicine.
