Beautiful and informative
This is a wonderful book that teaches readers about the Indian culture and the Navratri festival. I have never heard of this festival and don't know much about the culture and found this book so informative and educational, but it's written in such a way that is also very entertaining and engaging. There is a sweet storyline mixed together with lots of fun and interesting facts. The illustrations are beautiful and unique. It's a great book to teach kids about different cultures and understand and respect other people's traditions. We need more books like this in school libraries across the world to encourage multiculturalism. Recommended!

Fun relevant way to teach Indian culture for all
The whole Maya and Neel series is amazing! I bought these books when my older daughter was 1 years old. This series was her first book introduction to Indian culture. Fast forward a few years later… We won majority of the collection. What I really appreciate is that the book is perfect for people who know about Indian culture… And people who want to learn more! They authors and illustrators do a great job to capture all the different traditions and festivals celebrated both in North and South India. MUST purchase series! Thank you!!!

Enjoyable and informative
I loved this book. I think it is a good read for all kids to learn about different cultures around the world, in this case it is Indian culture and festivals. Even if you don't have Indian background, it doesn't matter. This book will spark a lot of joy in your kid to travel and meet with people from different cultures. It is teaching the God names, what to eat, what to wear and how the celebrations are done during Navratri festival. I loved the recap part in the end, where there is a short quiz for kids. It is not necessarily for all kids, but it might help to improve your child's memory as well.

Colorful and Informative
This book is very thoughtful. I liked the pronunciation guide at the beginning and the insights into how other parts of India celebrate. This was all new information for me and my daughter and it was explained in a way that made it easy to understand from food to clothes and common celebration items. My daughter really enjoyed the colorful illustrations!

Excellent book!
Love this book series!!! So great to teach our Indian culture to Indian-American kids! It would be awesome to see more festivals represented (e.g., Christmas in India, Sankranti, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.). Also, what would really be cool is if Neel and Maya visited each state in India and learned about their food, culture, clothing, language, important sights to see, etc. India is such a beautifully diverse country, and it would be great to showcase the diversity of each state in this book series so that Indian American kids can be proud of their heritage!

So much information, so much sense!
This book is a beautiful way of sharing information about Navarti! I learned something on every page. The pronunciation page at the beginning is incredibly helpful! I loved that she shared how it’s celebrated in different parts of India, too! Will read this several times over to fully understand what was taught because now I want to know ALL about it!

I was looking for such book for my 5 1/2 year old. I think this is the first kid's book on Navratri. Excellent book with nice illustrations. I really liked that it covered different Navratri traditions- Gujarati, Bengali and Tamil. I loved the recap at the end.
