This device was easy to install to a homemade copper ground plate that I made from a copper pipe, cut open and flattened out. I then soldered a solid core copper ground wire to the plate and attached the other end to my utility ground on a nearby light switch in the attic where my cable enters the house and is then divided via cable splitters. An incoming power surge on the cable will now be diverted via the ground plate back to utility ground. Just be sure to connect this device to the incoming cable BEFORE it is split into the various cables that lead throughout your house.

Item appears to be high quality. This was purchased to protect my internal Spectrum coaxial cable feed from lightning hits, which a few weeks ago took out my Spectrum modem, Spectrum TV box, TV and my surveillance system. I installed the in-line surge device properly with proper grounding. If I take a lightning hit again, I will let you know if it protected me completely, partially or not at all.

While this product works as intended it does also cause your signal to weaken by a small amount. I had to put in a booster with this item to help push the signal to all of the devices. If this was put on a short run it would help with the loss of signal.

Don't know if it works but I did lose an expensive NetGear because it got fried in an electrical storm through my Internet cable. So I got one. Could be a once in a lifetime thing but it doesn't cost so much to buy the In-Line Surge Protection ..... Just to be sure!

Okay surge protector, can't say if it works or not and hopefully will never find out.

Luckily haven't needed it yet, but it appears to be a well made product.
