Good smelling hot water !
These units are great so far .... the fit, finish & material feel & look quite robust...removed & replaced the original typical anodes on my two fairly new 40gal.water heaters, installation of this new product was easy & straight forward, perfect diameter & threads fit.....I like the fact that these electric anodes are much shorter, about 1/2 the length ...... showering I could tell a difference in the hot water, it smelled a bit better, maybe cleaner somehow !I think it to be a good value if the anode performs as advertised, & will find out in time !Happy Camper ! ✨👍😉

It works as advertised. Removed sulfur smell in less than an hour.
I had been struggling with sulfur smell in my hot water for months. I have a water softener and for whatever reason the sacrificial anode in my <1 year old water heater just wasn't cutting it. The Internet told me a powered anode would fix my woes. Reviews here told me this one was nearly identical to the more expensive name brand model at less than half the price. I figured it was worth the gamble. It too me about 30 minutes to install (I do have prior experience removing/replacing an anode). My only gripe is the lack of instructions. I ended-up pulling up the instructions from the Corro-Protect version and they worked perfectly. Some tips:1) An adjustable wrench that goes to 1 3/8" is helpful. This anode is larger than the standard 1 1/8". Locking pliers would work in a pinch.2) Don't drain the whole tank. Just drain enough to relieve the pressure and get the water line a few inches below the old anode. You will appreciate the weight of the water in the tank when you have to remove the old anode.3) Be sure to sand off the paint around one of the tank casing screws so the ground wire has solid metal-metal contact.4) Make sure you have an outlet within reach or you can get to it with an extension cord.

You'll need 2 sockets, 1 1/16" and 31 mm.
After 8 years, I decided to replace my anode in my water heater. I'm lazy, so I thought I'd try this powered anode so I'd never have to do it again. It's an easy install if you have an impact wrench and have a nearby electric outlet. I installed it and it looks like it is working. The light on the power supply came on. The water looks and tastes like it did before: perfect. I am on well water. I'll update if I have a problem or if it lasts 20 years.

DOA: Non-functional
Would not power up. Packed nicely and looked nearly identical to a different brand rod that I have in another water heater. In fact everything about it seemed comparable to the other (more expensive) brand that I've been using for several years in another heater. However when I got this one installed the green "ON" light on the power supply didn't illuminate. I suspected the power supply was defective. Since my older power supply was the same power specifications as this one I tried switching them. Both power supplies lit up fine when attached to the rod in my other water heater, but neither one lit up when attached to this new Briidea anode rod that I just installed in this heater. The packaging was nice and the written instructions were very detailed and clearly written. It even had a little quality control tag enclosed in the box. It appears that Briidea is based in China & I couldn't get a response on their Chat system. Rather than taking a chance on a replacement from Briidea, I'm going with a refund from Amazon & will try a different brand.

Seems to work - hopefully it lasts!
I just moved houses. I was very good with maintaining the water heaters in my old house, where I would flush them once a year, and replace the anode rod every 4-5 years. The water heater in my new house is 12 years old, and from the looks of it, was still on the original anode.I flushed and drained the old heater and saw that there was no rust in the water, meaning that the old anode was still doing its job, and therefore worth replacing. I decided to replace it with a powered anode because that would eliminate the need for replacement, and the only maintenance needed would be an annual flush. The old anode came out with some difficulty - I used an electric impact wrench with a 1 1/16" deep socket adapter. It was 70% consumed as you can see in one of the photos attached to this review.I tested the new anode for function in a metal pot because there were a few reviews indicating that the product received was DOA. In any case, the anode I received worked fine and went in very easily. I tightened it using a 1 3/16" deep socket adapter. I used a Dremel bit to ensure that I removed the paint around the grounding screw - thus permitting the circuit to be completed. The LED indicator on the power supply lit up right away. The documentation received with this rod is the same as sent with the Corro-Protec powered anode, which is about $60 more expensive. The rods also look identical. Also, the power supply is made by the same manufacturer. So I think it is likely that the Briiidea and Corro-Protec powered anodes are made by the same OEM.

All the reviews saying it’s magic are for good reason
Water got real stinky. Walking past the bathroom after a shower and it still smelled type water. Drain and flushed the tank, installed this unit and can’t believe how perfect the water was immediately. Couple weeks in and it’s still great. Secondly, the anode rod that this replaced was maybe 4 months old. And it was hammered. So I’d need to replace one every year if I’m lucky. This is supposed to last for a very long time. Even a few years I’d be amazed. If you got the smelly water with just your hot, this was a game changer for me.

Returned it, brand new and never turned on.
Return was easy but not sure about the product when a new one out of the box won’t even turn on once.

Ordered 2 - 1 is leaking
I think they work for the smell of the well water. One of them seems to be good, but we have 1 that is leaking from the factory seal.
