I thought this would be a great gift for my sister. She really wanted one, so I bought two- one for her and one for myself too. I got mine out, and I left the other packed up for my sister. The paper said to leave out for two weeks to acclimate to my climate. I did, but zero change. This darn thing has not changed at all. The "flakes" have stayed at the bottom. I have waited over a month. Living in the midwest, I have had variable weather conditions for this thing to change. In this time, we have had rain storms, sunny days, snow, and frost. No change. None. I figure I did choose the cheapest option on Amazon, so what can I expect. But yeesh, some sort of change would have been nice to see. There was nothing. My knees showed a more drastic change than this waste of money!

I bought two of these as gifts for my dad and brother for Christmas. They are pretty neat looking! I can't speak to their accuracy in predicting the weather, as I did not set them out in my own home to acclimatize or observe. They were intact upon arrival. I was a little concerned that one of them may have leaked as there appeared to be some moisture on the outside of the glass and the moisture had a very chemical smell. However, I left it on its side on a paper towel over night to check for leaks so I could send it back if needed, and I could not actually find any liquid leaking from it. Aside from that, I did not have any problems and they were well received as gifts.

I bought these for my dad and husband for Christmas, thought they would be interesting, they are not. The instructions said give them a week to adjust to their new home, sat in the center of the house as directed, no change. Sat closer to a window, nothing. Sitting on the window sill, still nothing. I didn't actually expect it to predict the weather, but it has not changed at all in the month of having it. Not impressed a bit. It's currently negative 10 degrees and snow falling, no Change. I thought it would be a neat conversation piece.

I feel like one star is too much for this product. The one thing it has going for it is it does look like the picture. It is a pretty glass decoration. HOWEVER, the description insert that was in the box is what drove me to return the glass. The insert was composed of broken English and no grammar what-so-ever. No punctuation and horribly misspelled words everywhere. I feel like I got scammed by a third world country. Worst part is, I bought THREE of them for Christmas presents and now I'm short three gifts. UGH. Really disappointed in Amazon for selling this.

Two stars because the design is cute. I’ve had it for about a month and the crystals haven’t done anything.Updated to add that it still doesn’t do anything, but my husband insisted we keep it because he likes the design. It was originally purchased for a gift, but i didn’t feel right giving it, knowing it doesn’t really work.

This is a nice desktop item to watch. The crystals slowly reform and redistribute constantly. The crystalline material (camphor) is present in excess of saturation at room temperature and has neutral density in the solution. Don’t expect weather prediction since it appears that only temperature change and rate of change affect the crystal patterns.

This was such a waste of money. Bought it for my wife- a complete weather lover. We Have had it since before Christmas and it has not changed or moved since it arrived in my house. We have had some drastic weather changes over last few weeks and still nothing. Do not waste your money on this product.

I bought this for my weirdo science dad and he lives in Taiwan he thinks it’s neat and got it safely over there when he went back. He keeps it on his desk at work and says it’s a good conversation starter for the people who work with him so apparently it makes him mor approachable.
