Works great! Here's what I think you need to know before buying.
I looked at a lot of fans and a lot of reviews. Came to the conclusion that a lot of people who complained the fans (from various manufacturers) didn't move didn't seem to understand that heat rises, so the fan must be placed above the heat source. After figuring that out, I thought about propellers and heat movement. Perhaps 2 longer blades would start moving quicker than 5 short blades? Could longer blades move more air? That's why I purchased this one (and it is the only one I needed to purchase). I played around with positioning it on the top of my standalone propane stove/fireplace. Found the sweet spot for movement and left it there. It's moving so fast you can't see the blades. This is the first morning of heating up the house in the morning with this fan on. I left the ceiling fan off to see how long it would take. The stove is in the family room which is about 16x20 feet. In about a hour and a half the kitchen thermostat was up to 69 degrees F. Our furnace keeps the house at around 63 degrees overnight and then the fireplace does the rest during the day. I wanted to test with just this fan in the event of a power outage. Very doable to warm this place up without electricity. I know that if I turn the ceiling fan on the house will quickly warm up into the 70's. For me, a secondary, non-electric source of air movement was important since we live in an area that gets regular snow and can be quite cold.I'm very satisfied with this purchase.A recommendation to other shoppers looking for a non-electric fan for air movement: don't assume a fan is bad based on people complaining IF they do not tell you where they placed the fan in their particular circumstances. I saw one person place the fan on the hearth in front of their fireplace rather than on the mantle. Remember that heat rises. Place whatever fan you purchase above the heat source. That heat source will need to get quite warm/hot before the fan will move. It is the heat that creates the movement. The person who placed the fan in front of the fireplace solved their lack of movement issue by placing a cast iron pan into the fire, heating it up, then placing it on the hearth and putting the fan on that. Then they got movement. Also, people complained that their chosen fan didn't move much air. These fans aren't designed to act like regular room fans. They are just gently moving heat further away from the heat source out into the room and subsequently into connecting rooms. It's a fairly slow process but I've found that it does work.Another thought is that some people complained their fans broke in only a few weeks or months. Question if those people have an open fireplace where ash can get drawn into the fan mechanism and clog it.I'm sure some fans out there are crappy, so the information I've provided won't be foolproof with every fan. But I think it'll help you with your selection. Also, I chose not to go with the cheapest fan, assuming the crappier versions were likely to cost under $20. My philosophy is buy it once and it lasts for decades if you do the proper research and think it through before purchasing. I'll try to remember to post an update next heating season. This fan will be used quite a bit this winter. My heat source is propane so there is no ash. But will it leave any kind of residue on the mechanism? Time will tell. I may also take it off one morning when it's cold and blow air across the mechanism with my hair dryer set on cold to blow out anything that might cause eventual slowing of the blades. Almost everything requires some sort of maintenance to keep working well. Good luck in your search for your best fan choice.

Quiet and starts at low heat
Moves a surprising amount of air. Needs much less heat that the big 2 blade types.

Great product
Quiet light weight more air nicely.

Keeps the heat moving
This is not a fan for blasting the hot air around the room and it does take a while to notice that it is making a difference, but it does make a difference and works well

Does not move much air
The fan heats up fairly quickly and starts working, disappointed on the lack of air movement it provides. I’m not sure if the blades need to be angled different but this fan will spin fairly fast but it just does not move much air.

After a month of continuous use the fan motor is making a noise as it rotates
We use our wood stove constantly during our north country winters. We received the fan on Dec 12 and put it on the stove right away. It runs as long as the stove surface is near 180 degrees or more, moves air as nicely as could be expected, and has been gently blowing air ever since. Our soapstone stove surface stays around 300 - 550 through the colder months and the fan moves air as well as could be expected. However around a week ago, it started making a slight whooshing sound with each fan rotation. That was about Jan 13 - right after the 30 day window. I put a tiny drop of tri-flow lubricant on the fan shaft which helped for 4-5 days, but the sound came back again. It's a soft sound, but I imagine it's only going to get worse over time. I guess I'll either have to lubricate the fan every few days through the winter or replace the unit with some other model... I should have listened to the other person who commented on the same issue.

Best fan/value for the $$$
I hardly ever write reviews, but this is one of the few I will take time for! We have 3 other fans from various sellers that all have 4 blades and all have given up and are now noisy due to the weak blades-Hence why I went with this one, as it has 5 blades and is smaller and very sturdy. It starts spinning within 30 seconds of being on the stove and runs so quiet I have to check to make sure it's still running!I am buying another one for a back-up-also, it comes with a temp gauge that on its own is $10+Highly recommend this fan and seller!!!

Gets the job done- amazing price!
This 6 blade stove fan has been a heaven sent discovery. We hear our home using fire stoves and before the fan, we’ve always wondered why we still need to wear housecoats. Well, after we purchased these fans, we feel the heat much more. I appreciate that I no longer feel warmer standing up than sitting down on the couch. The fans are blowing the heat in a straight lateral direction instead of rising. It has made all the difference for us. I can comfortably sit on my couch and feel the direction of heat. The technology is that it’s non electric and uses magnetic thermometer to push hot air circulation. As a result, there’s efficient air circulation throughout the house.

Works a treat
It's quiet and works well. A must for any log burner. A magnetic base holds it in place and as soon as the fire heats up, the warm air causes the fan to rotate, in turn, powering the inbuilt dynamo that speeds up the fan. Great invention.

Works Ok
It does push air around, much like the other types of good fans of this style. (Not as much as an electric fan, but a little).Your fingers (knuckles) can get hit by the blade while lift with the handle. Not hard enough to break the dkin, but it give you a fright.
