The Hidden Gold: A Marie-Grace Mystery (American Girl)

This is a great mystery. I like the steamboat setting and the characters. The lesson I learned was Never Give Up. If you love American Girl Dolls, mysteries and reading, then read this book! (Reviewed by Brendan, age 8)

I gave this book to my granddaughter and she loves all things that are Marie-Grace. She was excited that there was a mystery story with her in it.

This book is soooooo epic. I love it! I can't wait to read more about MariaGrace. I really recommend this book.

I got this book out of curiosity at a mystery-writing conference. It has a good story, is set in a fascinating location (on a steamboat), and has a great little illustrated history lesson at the back. The story is a little young to be a regular part of my reading diet, but if I had a kid, she'd have a shelf full of these. If nothing else, they show kids how good they have it these days. The main character is well-behaved and self-sufficient without being preachy, and it's nice to see the compassion and helpfulness she demonstrates for a babbling little kid much younger than she is, and also a rather rude girl her own age who is rude because she's really stressed.

I love mysteries, so I picked this book. Such a good book, I couldn't put it down. One of the best books I have ever read.
