It takes some finagling and you gotta use the right bait, set the plate with the bait beyond the trigger mechanism, so they step on it, works great.

Have a few of these placed around my yard, since the end of June 2024 I have trapped 25 ground squirrels that have come from who knows where (I have only seen 2 at any one time). I strings some peanuts on some heavy quilting thread, then tie up in the back of the cage. The squirrel has to try to pull on peanuts and always trips the plate to close door. I have a feeling I will be having these great cages forever in my yard to continue trapping squirrels "migrating" thru my yard!

The product is well made but the assembly instructions are poor. I to get online to see how to secure the rear door.

It works, but after trapping subjects the metal trigger plate bends and leaves it likely not to work.

There is a lot I don’t like about this trap. First of all it’s not reliable, the lever is so sensitive it just goes off on its own, confirmed with my security camera. Secondly, the metal is very cheap feeling and is very malleable. If anything presses against it with fair amount of pressure it will start bending out of shape. Setting the trap so many times because it would set off randomly by itself constantly the lever that holds the trap door up actually just broke off. That is how cheap and soft the metal is.Into the trash.

Trap is flimsy! Had to bend metal to get it to work. Do yourself a favor if you have critters spend the money for something that's gonna work, cause this one won't.
