Great for our needs.
We are installing a "utility" shower in our basement and needed a low profile drain which would be easy to service and not require breaking through the floor. This item allowed us to raise the shower about 3 1/2", the reasonable step for our use.The flex hose might not be the best, especially in a very permanent installation, as it would be difficult to replace. Being a utility shower, easy to service and actually move / raise, we'll try the flexible pipe for now. If it comes to it we can replace that section with solid pipe. You may want to use the solid pipe right off the bat for your use.Love the slightly raised in shower drain. It is easily lifted off to reach the catch 'bassin' to clean (hair, etc.) The flex hose might catch some hair and such, more than a solid pipe with a minimal number of connectors. It doesn't have P-trap. Another version is available with a minimal trap if it is critical for your installation.Overall, a great buy if you can't do without such a product.

It works
We had very little space for our shower plumbing, and this works. It seems ti be fairly cheap, but all it has to do is drain water. And it does. We ended up using a different strainer to be sure to catch ALL of the hair because we would be afraid to try to snake it.

Drain is a great, hose is not.
The drain was the perfect solution for a condo shower where we were not allowed to drill into the concrete floor slab. However the flexible hose it came with was useless and it did not drain well enough with it. We ended up going to home depot and getting a threaded ABS fitting to attach a solid ABS pipe to the drain itself and then into the existing building plumbing, which worked out well in the end.

The piping with the trap doesn't fit any standard plumbing.
The trap itself seems ok. The piping with it doesn't match any standard USA plumbing fittings.
