Great book
I used my wife's account to buy this book and I am writing the review, not Susan. This is probably one of the best NCLEX books on the market. Don't buy an NCLEX review book that does not have rationales, it's a waste of money. This book breaks down topics into manageable pieces making studying better. I used it several time when I was behind on reading, it cut to the important information, unlike my med-surg book which was two volumes. This book covered a body system in 10 pages that my med-surg book took 100 to explain. It is broken down in sections that are easy to follow. The accompanying CD-ROM provides even more questions and test results that tell you where to focus studies. I passed my NCLEX exam in 75 questions, this was my primary book not only for NCLEX prep, but throughout nursing school.

Great for Nursing School
I was a bit hesitant to buy this because of its cost (I'm a student!) and the fact that I already have other NCLEX-RN books to study with, but I have found this one to be the BEST overall! I am still in nursing school, but bought this for Medical-Surgical Nursing and have continued to use it for Maternity/Pediatrics, etc. It is particularly helpful to study for exams while in nursing school because it is broken down in sections of the body like you would have to study for in school. For example, Cardiac disorders, Renal disorders, etc. This is precisely why I DON'T like the other NCLEX review books, because they are not broken down by body systems, which may be helpful for an overall review when you're ready for the NCLEX, but is not helpful when you are studying for a test for a nursing school test. I have used this book in study groups A LOT, and other people in my group end up going and buying this book to study on their own with, because of it's usefulness. The review at the beginning of each chapter is a great way to make sure you know key concepts, and the questions are great for testing your basic knowledge and critical thinking skills. The only thing this book doesn't have is that it is more overview in the pharmacology Prentice Hall Reviews & Rationales: Pharmacology (2nd Edition) and mental health nursing Prentice Hall Reviews & Rationales: Mental Health Nursing (2nd Edition), so I bought the books like this one that are specifically for those topics! Overall, I would highly recommend using this book to use for studying during nursing school! And just a hint, if you go to Front Range Community College (Larimer) in Colorado, the teachers have been known to take questions from this book for tests!

Good but some annoyances
I would have given this book 5 stars for its comprehensiveness. 5,600 questions are great! But, there are a couple of annoyances:(1) The CD-ROM must always be in your CD drive. It cannot be installed on your computer and accessed like other NCLEX review CDs can. This means when using it in Study mode it is very SLOW and my poor CD drive is always spinning. I'll probably need a new CD drive by the time I take the NCLEX!(2) The study mode feeds you only 25 questions at a time. You can't pick the number of questions you want, like you can with NCLEX 4000 (which I also highly recommend).(3) The rationales are good, but I wish they would take more time telling you specifically why certain answers are WRONG. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't.Overall, when used with other NCLEX study sources, this book is a good value.

Excellent resource for nursing classes & NClex prep!
A classmate recommended this book and it's great. I'm currently a nursing student and it's useful for both class lecture review and questions prepping for exams (all our tests are NClex type questions). The chapters are easy to read in a outline format. They get right to the major points which is helpful compared to the at times cumbersome Med/Surg textbook. The practice questions are helpful, especially with the rationales explaining why you would/would not choose a particular answer.I'm not taking the NClex until early 2012 so I will be referring back to this book to prepare for that as well.
