Loon Outdoors Aquel Premium Gel Floatant

Best dry fly floatant I have used so far.
I grew up using Gink, but it leaves a trail of oil on the surface that must look awfully unappealing to trout. Then I became really snooty about using floatant at all, so I would constantly be drying my dry flies or changing flies frantically, tying an abundance of extra flies so I would always have a dry one. Crazy. I tried this Aquel floatant over the weekend on the Willowemoc in the Catskills (NY), home to very picky brown trout and pretty heavy fishing pressure. I found a long section of very flat water. I squeezed some of this Aquel stuff out and rubbed it onto the fly. It stayed afloat. Even with no false casts and after being totally submerged. I landed several trout. Even after removing a fly from a trout's jaws, just a tiny bit more Aquel and my presentations were consistent high floaters. No hassle. Yes, it does change its consistency with the temperature, but what doesn't?

Holds up well on water, sticks to fly well.
Holds up on flies well even on river water.Just a small amount and fly floats well for an hour even in heavy current.

my go to floatant
Does great job keeping flies on surface. It is not as susceptible to cold so it flows well warm or cold day fishing. The lid's connection is flexible and does not work harden and tear/break as other popular fly floatant does. non wax based so leaves no visible surface rings at fly.

Loon fly floatant
we have used Aqua floatant for several years. It floats the fly well, however it is affected by heat and cold. When exposed to the sun it gets runny and a lot is wasted when applying to a fly. When it is cold, it get stiff, but still can be applied to a fly by rubbing between your fingers.

Five Stars
Works quite well and does not dissolve in the water.

does the job
I tested this stuff and it works like it says, rub it between your fingers and apply it. It lasts about 2-4 hours and you have to then re apply it. You can just dry the fly in your shirt before re applying it to make sure it floats correctly.
