Wickman Candle Wick Trimmer, Matte Black

Over the past few years, I have become a candle connoisseur. I love the smell of the candles wafting through the rooms, the flickering of candles at night, and the warm homey sense it gives my apartment. But I hadn't gotten a candle trimmer because A) I didn't know I needed one for the longest time, B) I tried to trim with scissors or a knife (let's just say, that isn't as successful as it sounds), and C) there weren't many economical types in the places I looked for one. Finally, I broke down and bought this one through Amazon.I wasn't totally sold on the color (I prefer silver or pewter), but let's face it, that's aesthetics and doesn't really matter when boiling down to function.The product is sturdy and adequately long. I've had no problems trimming wicks in my deepest, most empty candle jars. The scissor function seems to be a bit gummy, but I've had no troubles actually trimming the wick (no awkward "sawing" to trim the wick). I'd been told to position the trimmers, so that a 45 degree angle is formed when the base of the trimmer is resting on the wax, but I have never been able to actually manuever my trimmer into that position. It just hits the side of the jar. I've resortted to just eyeballing it to the proper trimmed length. So far, that seems to be working fine.Overall, I like the price and it works great. Sure, it's not the color I really would have wanted, but when it does its job and doesn't look like it's about to break in the next few days, I'm a happy camper.Brought to you by:*C.S. Light*

I use this every time I extinguish my 3-wick candles, because I set a timer and burn them for 1.5 hours and a little blob usually forms on the tops. The blades are very sharp and I like the tiny little cup to catch the cuttings.

The wife and I use candles all over the house. It makes for nice ambient lighting, as well as, fragrant breezes in the house.My wife had me trimming wicks on the candles after use.I would get black char on my hands from the glass, and has a heck of a time getting hy hand down inside the candles when they got low.So the wife tells me to get a "wick trimmer".Well, color me blushed.I had no idea these existed.Now, for the product review.I like the fact that they are coated black, and a flat finish. they are easy to grip and they don't show any char.You simply place the end on the wax and snip the wick.It captures the snipped wick in the bowl of the trimmer making for easy disposal.Now the candles last longer, don't give off black smoke, no dirty hands, and no wicks left in the wax.I give this product 5 stars!~

As a candle aficionado, I've been using scissors for years to trim the wicks of my candles. I was searching for another item when I came across this wick trimmer. For some reason I decided to go ahead and purchase it. I can honestly say that this purchase is going to save me money. Wicks are supposed to be trimmed to 1/4 an inch to optimize burning and with a typical pair of scissors, this is fairly impossible to do with jar candles. With this wick trimmer, I am able to trim the wick to 1/4th of an inch with ease. I notice the flame on my candles is more even and the candle itself burns longer. I have less soot and dust around the house, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I thought that this was just a gimmick, but it really isn't. I would definitely recommend this well made wick trimmer to all!

Never new i needed this till i purchased it lol. Only thing i don’t like is that when you cut the wick the wax on the wick sticks to the tool && have to either tap it off or touch with fingers to take off the cut wick. Other than that much needed tool, my candle does not shoot little sparks && scares me because of this lol. If you want a clean smooth burn it’s a must have!

I have never owned a wick trimmer before, but this wick trimmer works very well. The trimmer itself is an extremely sturdy metal. The blades are sharp so cutting wicks is a breeze. The wick trimmer catches the wick so you don't have to get your hands ashy. This is a game changer!My only criticism is that it begins to get tough to maneuver the angle of the wick trimmer when your candle reaches the end of the jar. Perhaps a more vertical shape would benefit this issue.

Gets the job done. However, took off one star because the unit I received did not have a perfect matte coat. Chip in coating near the snipper (photo). Unit may have been used or manufacture defect. Not worth the hassle of returning and repurchasing.

Love this candle wick cutter. I burn a lot of candles, and for an extended period of time, so my candle wicks form a ball at the top. I use this wick cutter every time before re-lighting my candles. It gives a clean, straight cut and helps my candles burn more evenly. The blade is sharp and has a lip so after you cut the wick, it doesn't fall back into the candle and get stuck in the wax. The long handle reaches the wicks at the bottom of narrow pillar candles as well! Highly recommend.

I bought this to remove the mushroom tops off my burnt candle wicks. These trimmers make it easy to reach down into tall candle jars without getting messy wax all over your hand, and it snips and catches burnt wick ends so easily. It's also super sturdy and well made. The only con I can note is that the edges are a little sharp and squeezing the handles can sometime hurt your fingers. Overall, this is a great investment.

It’s a rather long wick trimmer but a little thick (especially for smaller candles), but trims really well - overall would recommend!

Great tool for trimming wooden wicks.Not so handy for cotton wicks which I hoped would do both.Overall it's handy to have for container candles with wooden wicks.
