Inu x Boku SS, Vol. 3 (Inu x Boku, 3) Paperback – April 22, 2014

Friendship is hard.”This series just makes me smile. And laugh. It’s absolutely one of my favorites now, an automatic buy, one that I get excited about reading. And one that I could probably re-read several times and still laugh about.The romance took a very nice turn in this volume—a huge step forward. There was a moment where Ririchiyo could have stereotypically chickened out, but instead she took the leap forward. And I am so very happy that she did that. It impresses me, and it makes me so very happy about everything going forward. The best parts of a romance, as far as I’m concerned, always seem to happen after the relationship starts.I love Ririchiyo and Soushi. They are absolutely adorable and hiliarious together. Plus, the ways that Ririchiyo are good for Soushi (and vice versa) are so very good. I love how she realized what her feelings would mean to Soushi, and why she took the step forward. That’s so huge. It makes me so happy.There aren’t many graphic scenes between them, during or after the big scene, but there are a lot of hints and touches. Just that makes me infinitely happy. And Soushi is so adorable with her. Also, their height differences, and how tiny Ririchiyo is compared to Soushi (like when he picks her up and holds her) is just so freakin' adorable. I love it.I also really like Ririchiyo and Roromiya’s relationship. Their friendship is so nice, Roromiya handles her so straightforwardly, and so easily. It’s nice to see Ririchiyo growing in that way, as well.Next there’s Roromiya and Watanuki. They are absolutely adorable. And Roromiya is still quite possibly my favorite character. I just love her—she steals every scene that she’s in. The romance between the two is still budding, and I’m really excited to see it bloom. Watanuki is just so sweet with her, so shy. Roromiya pushes him in just the right way. We got a whole chapter to them, and it was so sweet.I absolutely love the humor in this series. It just has me laughing and grinning through the whole volume. There are a lot of little one-shot pages, and pranks, and just plain the characters bantering and playing with each other. Plus, how the humor mixes so smoothly with the serious scenes and the serious messages. It’s so well-done. For instance, several times throughout the volume, there were hints of something to come, which I’m assuming is in the next volume. I’m really intrigued by that.I’m in love with this series, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next volume.

There is darkness in the horizon for our beloved characters in the Maison de Ayakashi in this third volume of Inu X Boku SS.We see honest character development for several of our mains -- Ririchiyo and Soshi -- as well as for a few supportive characters. Love is finally acknowledged though it may not be shown in the ways that seem familiar in most western romances. We learn more about why several characters behind as they do with particular focus this time on Karuta and Banri.The art is the same quality as the previous volumes but I really liked the little side stories and vignettes at various points.There are ups and downs in this volume could threaten tears but ultimately we see a darkness developing and are left wondering if all of Ririchiyo and Soshi's plans will work out. As we are told repeatedly, this is a story of a long, long time so we know Fujiwara has a long ways to go in her tale.

This is a fun manga; not very deep. A tiny girl Ririchiyo (Tsundere, and older than she looks) is sent off to a kind of boarding school for misfits, or genetic throwbacks, where everyone has some special power. The initial mystery is why she has a devoted butler Soushi, devoted beyond all reason, and also a fiance who is a complete ass. The secret behind this mystery is finally revealed and resolved, at least for the time being. Now Ririchiyo and Soushi are free to be in love, and their relationship gradually normalizes.Since everyone at Maison de Ayakashi (House of demons) has no family connections, they gradually build familial relationships through shared experiences. This volume has a slice-of-life feel. There are hints that something sinister is in the works -- there must be or else there would be no story -- but this volume is tame.The art is technically good, but not soulful. Not moe style. The guys have shonen manga eyes though I think this manga would be classified as shoujo. I do have some gripes: the facial expressions are not - expressive, or shall we say, subtle. Everyone is hiding their feelings. Also the mangaka has a habit of re-using panels over and over without even attempting to change them (see page 11). I understand that this technique is sometimes used for comic effect, but it feels like corner cutting.I'll probably keep buying the manga for a while longer, but it isn't especially memorable.

Love this series!! And I love the character! But in terms of condition in which the book came, it was not good. Even though it said that the book will come in new, some of the pages were about fall off! But I had to keep it because the price went up and this was the only place where I can buy it
