Unbeatable!
I've been collecting Halloween records and monster novelty tunes for about fifteen years now, and this is the best collection I've come across. The sheer number of tracks (75!) makes it a great value. Better still, these are original recordings, from the glory days of the Monster Kid era (50's-60's). No crummy Countdown Singers re-recordings or cheesy spookhouse sound effects here. If you're a collector, you should know that many of the tracks on this set can also be found on "Horror Hop," and "Monster Bop," but they sound much cleaner and brighter here. There's also some duplication with "These Ghoulish Things," and "Mostly Ghostly." You also get multiple tracks by the Holy Trinty of Monster Records; Bobby Pickett, John Zacherle, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. But even if you've already got most of these tracks, having them assembled in one convenient package is a big plus. Good as it is, "The Best of Horror" isn't perfect. There are some odd omissions that keep it from being the definitive Halloween novelty collection. "Haunted House" is AWOL in any version, as is the Revels' "Midnight Stroll." (Essential spooky tunes, but easy to find elsewhere) There are also one or two not-really-connected-to-theme selections, like Dwight Pullen's "Sunglasses After Dark." And while the sound quality of most of the cuts is aces, "The Mummy" sounds off and "The Blob" is really weird, like it was recorded from a showing of the movie on TV. Perfect or not, I'm happily rating this collection five stars. There are a lot of slipshod, disappointing Halloween music compilations out there, but this one delivers the goods. Whether you're hunting for party tunes or looking to start your own ghoul music collection, "The Best of Horror" lives up to its name.

HIP HALLOWEEN MONSTER MASH PARTY
I collect Halloween themed music and this is THE BEST very hip Halloween compilation I ever come across with hardly any weak tracks…. they include the immortal Monster Mash, & Monster Mash Party by Bobby Boris Pickett and the Crypt Kicker Five, other great tracks include…Let's Twist Again... Mummy Time is here, Graveyard Rock by Tarantula Ghoul & her Gravediggers, Jeckyl & Hyde, The Bat, Voodoo Woman, The Blob, the classic I Put a Spell On You, Drac's Back, Me and my Mummy, She's My Witch, Voodoo Woman, Frankenstein Rock…. etc…So over 3 discs you get a great assortment of cool retro rockabilly tracks, campy fun classics, and toe tapping songs for that great Halloween Party… and they aren't too childish but very cool retro 50's & 60's beats, and all by the original artists with great, sound.. and whoever put this together, thank you. Because I couldn't have done a better selection myself.

Halloween novelty
This is a good Halloween and horror song novelty album. Monster Mash by Bobby Boris Pickett starts out this album of 75 songs some of which are from his album of the same title such as his Christmas song Monsters Holiday. John Zacherle is also on here with some of his songs like Dinner With Drac which is his only top 40 hit and Coolest Little Monster. Bill Doggett is on here with his one monster hit Monster Party. The Coasters show up with their only monster hit The Shadow Knows. We also have Jackie Morningside with Rocking In The Graveyard. Thers a lot of others as thats just the beginning. You should get it.

No Horror type songs!
I was disappointed in these cds. All the songs are rock and roll and sock hop type. The songs also all sound alike. I was looking for some spooky music to play at a party but this was not it for me. I wish I could have listened to some of these songs before I purchased it.

Fun 50's songs for high energy.
Great songs ... of the 1950's! They offer a fabulous 50's vibe! A few classics but many I've not heard before. Some were, I felt, mostly for background tunes. I would have preferred a better description of the types of songs rather than just titles.

75 Original Horror Favourites ...
Dracula und Frankenstein, Werwölfe, Mumien, Zombies, Hexen, Geister, Monster, Mutationen bis hin zum Serienkiller - sie alle haben sich in den verschiedensten Musiktiteln verewigt. Das vorliegende 3-CD-Set "The Best Of Horror" beinhaltet "75 Original Horror Favourites".
