Enthralling
Knowing nothing of horses, this book is an enthralling read. Highly enlightening on ways of living with horses and their quirky personalities. Each story is both deep and entertaining.

Laugh and cry
Martin is a trickster and a beloved poet,, I do however cringe every time he mentions some vague Indian blood lineage that he or his mother had/have,, makes me embarrassed

Another beautiful book from Martin Prechtel
These stories bring to life a way of relating to the animals and landscapes surrounding us with such reverence and vitality. Every chapter is an adventure into the heart, as your ride through the pages of beautiful life changing tales, you come to know the grandness of horses in a more intimate way. Each story is interspersed with lots of everyday magnificence. I highly recommend sitting down with this book and a cup of tea and reading it aloud to all you love.

Relatable; Therapeutic
Unlike many of Prechtel's past books, this book is rather humble in scope. It is a memoir, telling a few stories of relationships he's had with horses over his lifetime (the first of three volumes on the subject). The book's subject area—horses—strikes a chord with a wide range of audiences. Similar to the way that everyone has a story about a tree in their lives, it would seem that everyone has a story about a house—if not from their own personal experience, at least from a film or a book that struck them as a child.Horses are often used in therapy work. As this is a book about horses, reading it has a therapeutic effect.

A treasure
I love all of Martín's books, but this one is special. These stories are hilarious, profound, and full of raw, real life. They feel intimate and true. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Martin Prechtel; a national treasure!
I've been to many of Martin's lectures. The first time was on the radio, I was so blown away I had to go see him. Now I want to study with him. His sense of humor and take on life are priceless. So many gifts he has, writing is only one. This book doesn't disappoint in any way; I've read every one of them. I recommend you do the same. I can't wait to read Volume 2.
