SYNTHETIC REEDS: VENN is back and better than ever. Introducing Generation 2 of our groundbreaking synthetic reed

I use the tenor sax reed on my Bass Clarinet and on a friend's advice chose a half strength lower than a regular cane reed. It doesn't fade or become water logged, has a great tone and it responsive.

Big thumbs up.! I’ve tried Legere Sig, American Cut, and Forestone reeds. I really wanted them to work but I just found them unnatural compared to cane, plus very dependent on mouthpiece. This reed is brilliant (after one day of playing). I’ve played it on both metal and hard rubber mouthpieces and they all sound really good. It feels like a slightly buzzier cane reed but there is a real depth of sounds which only cane reeds have been able to produce for me. I play a Venn tenor strength 2 which equates to a Select Jazz 2H or 3S. There’s a slight adjustment period when playing synthetics but this is the first one I felt was worth it. Reed placement is very important. The closer the reed is to the tip of the mouthpiece (or just over) will result in a slightly darker and harder reed. Really excited about these.

After reading reviews I expected this reed to play like a 2 1/2 instead of a 2, but even after adjustment with a reed geek it was still unresponsive compared with a Legere Signature. Unfortunate because the Venn has a better texture than the Legere and the colour/opacity and extra thickness make positioning on the mouthpiece a lot easier

Great reads feel strong and sturdy yet flexible. A much better realistic cane experience Ghag other synthetics I have tried. Fab for anyone allergic to cane.

Couldn't even play a Palm key note with it, Ill stick with Legere

Player of over 30 years. I have played cane nearly all of my time up until the past year. Sure, in the past I experimented with synthetic reeds and found that I wasn’t a huge fan of them because they either sounded too buzzy even for jazz, or they were to tough to control pitch wise requiring way more attention than cane. I decided to give them a shot again and looked at the current generation. I have a small selection of most of the major brands in various strengths on Tenor of this newest round of synthetics by established brands as well as newcomers. When I got around to trying the Venn generation 2 reeds on Tenor, I was floored. They immediately sounded great and they were very easy to control. I had no issues adapting to playing them over the course of an afternoon. I immediately bought a total of 4 in to have a rotation in the strength that worked best for me. They run about a half size or more too strong. For example I might normally be around a 2.5, 2-hard even a 3 or 3 soft on some reed brands, I found a 2.0 in the Venn worked perfectly. I read up on this before I bought and it turned out I was wise to do so. I have now been playing these exclusively for about 6 months, same rotation, no sign of wearing out. I couldn’t be more happy with these.

Hice caso de otras reseñas y me ayudaron. Compré la 2.0 y me viene genial. Normalmente uso 2,5 o 3 dependiendo de la abertura de la boquilla. Esta caña me recuerda a las fibracell en sonido. Solo la he probado con una boquilla de metal otto link y suena bastante brillante. Se la ve fuerte y durará bastante...eso espero!!!

Excellent produit mais attention à l'echelle de rigidité, elle est très forte. force 2 est trop pour moi alors qu'en Legere American Cut c'est parfait. La tremper dans l'eau bouillante pendant 2 secondes et çà passe.J'ai un son moins brillant qu'avec ma légère. Je la garde comme seconde option.
