It's a good recommendation for a good system
It's ok. I kind of regret getting this. Maybe over priced isn't the right word, but it's too much for a beginner on a budget and I could've save a bit more money if I shopped harder. The Phottix transmitter/receiver set obviously is the star here. It's a good recommendation for a good system, and it's a pretty good deal by that. But the reflectors can typically be gotten extremely cheaply individually, as well as the light mount. Maybe not the same quality, but reflectors are trivially made objects. The light stand is good. So I think you can save some money just getting the suggested transceiver and light stand. The bag is nice. But if you're on a budget, you don't really need it. I'm guessing you're like me and you're not a pro, so you're not really planning on travelling with these anyway. Just stuff them in any duffel, since there's nothing fragile here, so the expensive and oversized padded bag is an overkill.I respect what Strobist does, but I was in too big a hurry when I was shopping and in hindsight I probably could've save some money. On the other hand, I feel like I've contributed in a small way to Strobist's work so maybe it's not so bad.

What a piece of junk. The umbrella is bent, the legs on the stand don't tighten sufficiently to hold up a flash, and the triggers failed to work with a Canon 430 EX-ii. The seller is not honoring the return policy, so either Amazon will come through with a claim file or I am stuck with useless garbage. Please look elsewhere to find decent equipment.
