Comparing this with BodyProx
I decided to do a product comparison instead of a straight review being that I own both the BodyProx and Tomshoo.First off, my use is for LIGHT protection for roller hockey skating. I use this during drills, practice, skating and an occasion pick up game. For these activities, both models will suffice. I would not recommend for actual real game use or in place of hockey girdles because i don't feel they offer the same amount of protection. These are more like referee protection quality. If that's fine with you then continue on.Both are comfortable, though I would give the edge in overall comfort to the TOMSHOO. The Bodyprox material is slightly rougher, but not noticeable unless you happen to have both. TOMSHOO is more like soft underwear in spots.FIT: The edge here goes to BodyProx. I am 5'8, 155 Lbs, with a 31 inch waist. I would describe myself as being in the fit category. I wear a Medium in most clothing. The BodyProx Medium fits me well, snug and secure. I opted for a LARGE in the TOMSHOO after reading the reviews and I'm glad I did. The TOMSHOO runs on the small side. The hip and leg area fit fine but when I go to tighten the waist and zipper area (velcro) i find it quite snug. So even going up one size, it still seemed tight around the waist. Good news is that even though it was snug, it wasn't terribly uncomfortable. And i think if i went up 2 sizes, it would be too big. So, bottom line, GO ONE SIZE UP on the TOMSHOO, True to size on the BodyProx. Also, the waist area of the Tomshoo is adjustable via velcro whereas the Bodyprox is an elastic waist.Protection: Ok, as previously stated, they both offer light protection. The TOMSHOO has extra padding on the bum area which is good for skating or activities where you may land on your butt often. The Bodyprox has thicker feeling protection all around the girdle, but lacks the same protection on the rear end area. Since in skating, you fall on your butt more than you do your sides, Tomshoo would get my vote here.VALUE: The BodyProx was on sale and I paid $27, otherwise it's $30. The Tomshoo not on sale is $20. If you opt to buy more than 1 pair, then the Tomshoo is more economically feasible.OVERALL: I give a slight edge to the TomShoo. The edge would have been greater had it not been for the over snugness around the waist. I am favorable to both.

Great for snowboarding.
I used them over my leggings under my sweat pants when I was snowboarding. I fell a few time and I don't hurt as bad as I did without them. Only reason there not a 5 star is the top hits me on the belly button line and I can't Velcro them shut because the elastic it to tight. They stayed up without them being shut.p

If you want butt protection, this is it
These shorts are fantastic. I'm 5'10 and 145, slim, and they Velcro is really tight around my midsection, so I just don't Velcro it, but that's the only downside to these.I'm an aggressive snowboarder and when I fall it tends to be pretty hard, I've taken some hard falls on ice patches and with these shorts on, I don't even notice. 100% worth it

Maximum functionality, minimum glamour
Let’s face it, I don’t wear these shorts to make my butt look great. But I’m sure glad that I’m wearing them when I fall down on my tailbone while rollerskating!

Good fit and good value. Maybe softer padding
These shorts fit me well and for the most part do their job of padding and protecting during a fall. My only critique is that the padding material is a bit hard. If they used softer material, I think it would do a better job at absorbing impact of falls. I fell once with these shorts on and I still got a bruise, but I'm sure the bruise would have been a lot worse if I hadn't had the shorts on. I've washed them a few times already and just let air dry and they seem to be holding up well.

fits pretty well but padding not quite in the right place
i'm giving this product 3 stars because while a lot of the padding is in just the right place, like the tailbone and the hips, unfortunately there is no padding at all directly under where my sit bones are. i'm concerned that if i fall (i got these for rollerblading which i am going to be teaching myself) i will land directly on my sit bones and this could suck. i'm 32, 5'4" and 120 lbs and i think i got the size L, i believe these are a unisex fit but that still doesn't account for where the lack of padding is. the waist is a little tight on me but there is velcro closure so i can adjust that part. my hips are 39" and my waist is 28" so its a little strange that its tight there but thats ok. length of short legs and the way it fits on my hips and legs are fine. i will probably have to wear a second pair of shorts under these.

More comfortable than I thought…
Size up. I have a 26” waist and got a large. Decent fit bit even then a little tight there. Fine everywhere else. Definitely more comfortable than I thought and fit under my leggings/tighter jeans. Haven’t fallen on it yet hence 4 stars. Just not sure how much it will absorb an impact but I think it’s better than nothing.

I feel confident with these on. Size up.
Purchased for snowboarding. I have a previous low back/hip injury and didn’t board for years out of fear of falling. I decided to buy these crash pads to help break my falls. I’ve taken a couple hard spills having to learn all over again and while these aren’t a miracle fix by any means, I feel more confident knowing I have them on. I also appreciate you can’t see the outline through my snow pants, could be a personal brand thing so take that with a grain of salt. Size up!

Make me feel safer
Ordered these after a particularly bad fall figure skating - landing right on my coccyx. Couldn't get up or sit down, or even turn over in bed without being in quite a lot of pain for weeks, so I was conscious of that not happening again!I wondered if padded shorts were a thing and came across these. Rinks have obviously closed for the moment, and I haven't fallen again since I bought them, so I can't really attest how much they'd soften the blow of another fall. That said, they do feel pretty good! The padded bits do feel like they'd offer you quite a lot of safety. It's a velcro fastening too which I like.I wear them under joggers. They do, therefore, make your arse look huge, but I'm now of an age where I would prefer a pain-free body than looking nice on the rink!

Great for rollerskating
I got these shorts to protect my tailbone while I'm roller skating in my quads. I haven't fallen on my tailbone (thank go) but I have fallen on my cheeks. Then pads helped to soften the blow alot so I was able to get right back up and Lear. To skate. They are also easy to move in. I'm plus sized and these fit well

Good protection at a good price
These were fantastic for my recent snowboard trip. Really easy to get on over my regular underwear and offered decent protection at a fair price. They didn't make me too hot either as they have good ventilation at the front, however they did make me a little sweatier around my butt due to the extra padding in the coccyx area. It's a trade off to be honest and I'd prefer the extra protection any day of the week. Coverage of the padding is good, one thing to note here is a little extra padding just below the waistband and above the hip pads that may not be immediately obvious from the picture. The velcro closure at the front was super easy to operate, especially easy when I needed a toilet break.Overall a great product for the price. I imagine a more expensive product would offer better cushioning on the protective pads but without having bought one I have nothing to compare these to.If it helps anyone else, I'm a 32" waist and went for an XL (I'd usually go for Large so size up to get the best fit).

Fantastic
Incredible. Saved my arse about a bazillion times when snowboarding. They hold farts, which is kinda gross, but also kinda cool. Treat it like an added bonus. I will never snowboard without this on my behind ever again.

Saved my butt!
I purchased this for my first snowboarding holiday. And I will say now that I think they literally saved me from breaking my coccyx. The padding that goes round the hips also helped 😂. Basically if your new, you will hit the deck a few times. This will help!
