I love the taste
I felt that I HAD to give my testimonial about this product, because of its quick efficacy toward what occured, just a few hours ago.Last night, after dinner, I decided to pour an enormous amount of organic cinnamon into my yogurts (a mixture of greek plain and greek peach) and began eating away. This morning, I awoke with no discernable signs of gastrointestinal distress, but within an hour or so, I began having EXCRUTIATING stomach (and both sides of lower back) pains. I remember reading about the toxicity levels of too much cinnamon intake (garlic too) and that licorice is one anecdote for such an attack. I also remembered having purchased licorice root powder from Banyan, but I thought that it may not be effective enough, because it was purchased more than 2 years ago. I didn't measure the amount, just poured some in the palm of my hand, then ate/licked my palm clean.....I love the taste. Unfortunately, I have hypertension, and since licorice can increase blood pressure, I rarely consume it. Fortunately, within 20 minutes, the pain subsided some, but it was still pronounced. I should also note that it is very important to drink water (clean & pure) which I did, prior and during my consuming the licorice. I decided to take another dose, about 30 minutes after my first dose.....within an hour, the pain was COMPLETELY eliminated!THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PRODUCING A HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT. I will NEVER consume so much cinnamon EVER again.....lesson learned.....:-)

Wonderful! Licorice Root Powder. My lungs feel so much better, tastes and smells great. Many uses.
Just received my Licorice Root Powder two days ago. What can I say? I love the taste. I even put it in my coffee and homemade soap.In my homemade soap, I love to add several drops of cinnamon bark oil. They smell delicious together. On it's own, the licorice powder smells great with a gentle, mild fragrance -- nothing overwhelming. I don't smell anise or taste anise.I even put the licorice powder and a drop of cinnamon bark oil in my activated charcoal toothpaste mixture. Now I enjoy it even more!Easily digestible when taken as directed which is 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp in warm liquid ONCE a day. It has already made a difference in freeing up the lung congestion I have been suffering with for over a year. Thank God! It's time something worked! I was miserable and coughing so much that I had lost my voice. The bag is resealable. I keep it up in the kitchen cabinet away from heat and moisture. I plan to get a good resealable jar for it because we live in a high humidity climate and I because I simply want to keep it in a jar as it's a product I intend to continue using.I started with the 1/2 lb. bag so that I could give it a try. I have enjoyed every use of it, and have not personally had any type of allergic reaction to it. I highly recommend it to any one not allergic to licorice.Update, July 10, 2017I rarely cough now. My lungs no longer have that heavy sick feeling. This licorice root powder has been an answer to prayer for me. I am so happy I discovered it on Amazon.

Does not list country of origin on label.
I compared this with bulk organic licorice root powder I bought from a store a year or so ago. The taste is similar but this one tastes a bit more earthy or dirty or rooty...as in, it reminded me slightly of the taste of organic horseradish root (the raw root) but without the heat or hotness. It is lighter in color than the other brand of organic licorice root powder I had but looks the same other than the color difference. I am worried about where this licorice root was grown. The label says it is certified by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture and there is no country of origin listed so it is very possible that this licorice root was grown in New Mexico but it is not 100% evidence. Even the web site does not explain the country of origin it seems). I found fibers in the powder. There is so much of it that I didnt have to look very long to see one. These fibers bend to the touch but they do not float in hot cocoa. I am guessing they are pieces of unground root because I bought some unground root and ground it down in a mortar and peste and there are a lot of woody fibers that are still not ground because I have not finished grinding yet. So I am guessing this powder is not filtered in a way to remove unground root parts. Thats why I give it a 4 out of 5.

and great for you
delicious! and great for you, according to research and reports by many. the value is not the greatest but the quality is good and the container cute. I got this size because it was a gift for a licorice lover who no longer eats candy or sugar.. otherwise I would buy it and most herbs or spices by the pound cuz the smaller sizes are a rip-off.. hehe that being said I don't feel ripped off, but I would choose another source to get it in the future probably. the container is plastic otherwise I would probably get this again but it's not really worth the high pricetag. worth the 5 star rating for the single time purchase, but not for indefinite future purchases

An excellent quality herb
This is a very good quality herb for supplementation. It seems to be a potent variety with a strong sweet flavor. It works well for its intended medicinal purposes, and as a fine powder it suspends easily in water. There are no impurities I can see. We use it for hormonal regulation and for mild respiratory relief, as well as to augment other medicinal herbs. It's strong though -- we use it sparingly. A small amount lasts a good while.
