LEGO Avatar Neytiri & Thanator vs. AMP Suit Quaritch 75571 Buildable Action Toy with Animal Figure and Pandora Scene, Gift for Kids

Bought this for my 10 year old son for Christmas in 2023 and he absolutely loved it, he is still playing with it as of November 2024. Quality built building blocks that you can always expect from the Lego brand, vibrant colors, loads of fun for kids and Lego fans of all ages. Not a single missing piece, even included additional pieces. Assembly was a breeze and easy to understand due to the extensive amounts of details Lego puts into their instruction booklet. Price point was good because it was purchased around Black Friday

This LEGO set for its piece count , unique mini figure, buildable animal ,mech , and jungle with glowing plants. The set seems to be reasonable if one finds value in it for its price. The set is presented has vs. set in a medium size set this from the buildable animal (The Thanator) , the AMP Suit, and background jungle. The build, color selection, uniqueness of the set have their own merits.The Build of the set has three parts the creature, the mech, and background biome. According to original script of the film by James Cameron, mentions that the thanator could easily defeat a T. rex and eat the Alien Queen for breakfast. While Avatar the video games mention its "about as cuddly as a T. rex.”.The Thanator when completed looks like jaguar the size of elephant and beak/teeth combo is build for armor piecing bite because like a jaguar since they are known to hunter cayman crocodile and pierce the crocodile’s armor the Thanator its a apex hunter that could takedown its pray with ease. the Thanator build is roughly the size of the lego triceratops with large lego Dino style jaw molded to match the Thanator in the film. Its color pallet is close to the film with navy blue and black bricks with the rubber links for Navi minifigures, though it has some yellow bricks in the near the joints that could be seen. I few possible disappoints in this build is non use single large body pieces since while building it feels fragile, this more so the ends the toes, since they can come of if handled with a heavy hand. Nevertheless buildable vs mono bodies have their own quality that will up the individual to decided which they. The AMP suit the color choice as a pale mint green helps to contrast from the the Thanator. The color the mech has a comic look and with lesser inclination of the flat gray color the film since this target customer for this child set since mostly the creator 14+ to UCS sets 17+ tend to match film or medium that set represents. The build has moveable joints on the shoulders, hands, hips, and feet which allows the playability and multiple positions. The blade is serviceable but the ninjago style blades for mech could have better since they are more durable for play since the blade for the AMP suit is a two piece and can be prone snap off. Furthermore like the Thanator the joints can pop off with heavy handed play however the arms and leg builds are either build around are large single piece for braced on well with its building technique meant’d that leg or arm has whole would pop off instead to the smaller pieces when compared to the Thanator’s claws. The AMP suit internal’s console are printed with a few stickers on the outside of the AMP suit. The yellow chainsaw could have been removed in flavor of better blade for the AMP suit since the front box art does not included, and could have use the extra pieces to improve the Thanator arms and claws to have better durability. The minifigures are unique since Colonel Miles Quaritch has a unique green forest camouflage with a pale mint hue to match the comic look of the AMP suit. The additional metallic colors helps this figure standout since its uncommon for lego to have minifigures to have realistic combat characteristics. Since the minifigure match the look of Miles close the film including his scars this would be difficult to have second face and could have added a coffee mug to match the tone comic/ lego style of its shows and video games, since this wave of Avatar set do not have at the large gunship or home tire of the Navi. The Navi Neytiri and rest of the Navi are quite larger than the standard minifigure to match the proportion with larger legs , arms, unique head with ears and hair mold with a tail the front and rear of the chest prints are detailed. The additional background biome with its wide color spectrum pallet to match the looks of the jungle of Pandora is commendable from the rocks and the overgrow of the plants surrounding it with plenty of colors from fuchsia, turquoise rocks, red stems and vines, and the bulb flowers to help matching to the look of the Pandora’ Jungle biome has the glow in dark plants is nice touch to match the jungle in night setting. The end extensions link other biome set together to build up the jungle with the other Avatar set. If there where small poly bags of Pandora jungle with glow in dark plants with this set it would have help builders to get a lush Pandora forest. I have included pictures of other minifigures to compare the sizes the Navi and the Thanator when compared to other large animals.

I was so happy to see this item available for purchase, since I believe this Lego set is retired. It was super easy to put together and comes with 3 manual books for the Thanator, Area Layout and AMP Suit Quaritch. The pieces came in good condition as well as the stickers to the Lego pieces. So quality overall is great. Finally, the design for the scene, in my opinion, was just awesome. You can change the position with the Thanator and place them where you want or the place the recommended.

The delivery was quick, and the kids are enjoying the Lego.

The media could not be loaded. I have never seen the film Avatar and I doubt I ever will. But I do have a particular fondness for all things LEGO (a trait I’ve passed down to my 7 year old son) and so I order this set. I think I was drawn to the six-legged cat/bird/dragon creature and I’m always willing to add to my “MECH” collection.The set has 560 pieces and is a 3-part build. In typical Lego fashion, the instructions were thorough and easy to follow. The finished products were beautiful aesthetically and meticulously detailed. I’ve come to expect too-notch things from LEGO. But strangely this set was sub-LEGO standard and did not meet my expectations in a few ways. There were several pieces in the flora part that did not fit well together; they were difficult to attach. I think that’s the first time I’ve encountered this problem with legitimate LEGO brand building blocks. In that same section several parts came apart easily once assembled. Typically LEGO designs their products in such a way that they don’t come apart easily. This was not the case with this set. Some parts detached with even the slightest nudge.Overall it’s still a great product…only LEGO has set extremely high standards for itself (therefore my expectations are unusually high). This set fell short of its standards to me.
