Good hardware, Android app needs serious work.
The camera hardware is good but the app needs some work. I bought this because it supported RTSP and was priced similar to YI and Wyze camera, which don't currently support RTSP. The human detection feature seemed interesting but has proven to be completely ineffective in low light. What is most annoying is that in low light, even with motion detection turned OFF, the camera uses "fallback motion detection" since human detection doesn't work and sends tons of false positives. You also are not able to select an area for motion detection. Also it is surprising that this camera has a focusing system, most other cameras in this range are fixed focus, for good reason. Then there is the Android app. The functionality that is there works well enough. But the UI is really outdated, it is something from the early days of iOS. Yi and Wyze both have much better looking and easier to use apps. The push notifications don't seem to be real push, the app stays running in your notification list and if you click on it, you are taken to the force stop or uninstall control panel for it. It uses a considerable amount of battery doing this. Makes it tempting to uninstall!!! The owners of HiKam should buy their developer a Yi and tell them to learn from that app.One other feature that is very nice is the ability to have alerts emailed to you with three pictures. Very handy if you don't want to always use the app. It is also nice that the camera allows direct video streaming through RTSP. Would be nice if you could connect to it using ftp or smb to pull files directly though. In conclusion, buy this if you have to have RTSP and you don't want to buy a HikVision Cube (twice the price of this) or something similar. Otherwise consider the Wyze or Yi as well for their more polished apps.

It works for simple video monitoring if you don't mind all of the issues. I will be returning this camera.
The camera works. You can watch it through the app on your smartphone or connect to it with VLC player over rtsp. There is sound capture also. Let me describe the issues I've ran into. It requires signing up for userID and PW to some third party service. Even though the service is free this is an immediate red flag, i.e. does the video and sound get sent to some server somewhere? You cannot trust this camera if you're privacy conscious. I wanted a camera that talks to my router and NOTHING else. The wifi range is bad. There is no 5Ghz wifi support. I could not keep it connected 3 walls away watching the entrance and ended up setting it up in non-ideal place in the bedroom window so it's 4 feet away from the router. I could never get the "defense area" feature in the app to work - it just keeps spinning. Camera is set to record 3 minutes on motion but clips are 6 seconds long. There is something being saved to microsd card but the album in the app is empty. This cam is not reliable means to record a break in.There are some bells and whistles I have not even tried, like email alerts, and some that I tried plain didn't work. Android app needs some improvements for sure. It saved some clips to my phone and made at least 3 folders - why?

No support for multiple access/streams and empty promises from company
I bought this camera back in February to use as a front door camera. It was easy enough to setup and I really like the lens angle and default color settings. It allows for a clear and complete picture. That's where all the fun ends. This camera does not support more than 2 simultaneous connections. For me, that is problematic because I have an iSpy server acting as an NVR (1 connection) and an old Android phone running tinyCam Pro that I am using as a desk monitor to see people approaching my door (2nd connection). If these two are running then I am unable to connect to the camera with my phone or any other device. Previously, I tried using tinyCam pro on one device as both an NVR and viewer which apparently uses both connections and that blocks connecting from a second device.I brought this issue to HiKam's attention and they confirmed it was a bug. They said the camera should support 2 connections per IP address, that they were able to replicate my issue, and they would be fixing it in the next firmware update and urged me not to return the camera. Since then, there have been 3 firmware updates with no fix for this issue and month-after-month they keep promising me a fix is coming. It is now August, I have still yet to receive a fix, and they are giving me the run-around about why they haven't fixed this.I am now way passed my return window after foolishly believing their promises so I've purchased another camera (FDT) for the same price in order to solve the issue. If you only need to access this camera from one device at any given time then it does a great job. But if you need more than one person (or device) to access this camera at any given time then look for something else.

Very Good Customer Support!
I have an update to my review below. HiKam Support personnel Rusty and Steven worked long and hard to resolve my issue. They are true professionals. My cameras are all up and running on the newest firmware versions now. Very satisfied with the cameras, application, and support now. Highly recommend this company if you need security camaras!Cameras and web application are really easy to load and connect. Application is intuitive and easy to use. Love the picture. BUT, you get D. A new version of the application was pushed out, and suddenly my cameras could not connect to it. After a day and a half with your support, the only solution was to reinstall the previous version of the s application. This should have been more thoroughly tested before the new version was released. I will not install any new code without being reassured it has been thoroughly tested. This may leave me vulnerable for needed bug updates however.
