Great insights, great story-telling
I was lucky enough to come across the author's first book ( Saltwater Buddha ) several years ago at a time I was exploring the connection I was feeling between my surfing and spirituality. Jaimal's personal story and his ability to weave in religious and spiritual lessons helped me gain personal insight into my own experiences and really pushed me to think about my passion in a different light. With his new book he has done yet another fantastic job of taking the reader through his own story while connecting it to fascinating scientific research. I found The Fear Project at an opportune time as I have been confronting anxiety over some major life changes. This book gave me excellent lessons from his adventures and exposed me to some deeper scientific concepts that help me understand the source of some of those fears and anxiety. I recommend this book to anyone and am eagerly awaiting his next...

Great writing style and discusses how fear effects us from many fascets
Yogis does a great job of defining fear both at a physical level as well as spiritual. While the parts of how our brain works and some of the scientific studies covered a lot details, I found it useful and insightful. He shows how fear is involved in our daily lives and how it impacts our decisions. Being afraid of fear can hold us back. Understanding your fears can provide powerful freedom.

Great book for anyone!
This is a very well written book that takes a lot of very complex information about fear, anxiety and happiness and makes it easy to understand and fun to read. I've read many books on similar subjects, like the happiness hypothesis, eat pray love, the happiness project, several by the dalai llama, and this one is right up there in content. Plus it's easier to understand . The writer has a gift for making readers understand moments of pure joy in his own life. Makes me want to surf and enjoy life!

Helped me find my way
I loved this book. I think it was deeply personal and very relatable. It was also full of great nuggets of science to back up the claims the author made. It really helped me through a rough spot in my life. I was addicted to heroin and very afraid of going thru withdrawals to get clean. It helped me see that I could conquer my fear and really go after the life that I want. I am happy to report that now I am clean from all drugs and starting to build a happy life full of all the things I always dreamed of doing like practicing MMA, meditating, cooking, lifting weights, writing songs, and best of all going on dates! I love Jaimal Yogis for writing this and can’t wait to read more of his work. Thanks Jaimal!

Fearsome
This is, in general, a reasonably good book. I like the way in which Jaimal uses surfing as a way to talk about fear. This is indeed good, as it makes it more real. However, I felt that he wanted to put too much into the book. I like the fact that he used everyday language, and this makes it approachable for most people. However, in concentrating so much on the stories, and his life's journey, he left little space for something more serious, more satisfying. What I found much better than the book, are the end-notes, as these represent a wealth of material and contain a wealth of resources. For this, I thank himFear is indeed fundamental to us, and is a fascinating subject. This needs more in-depth treatment, however.

Understanding fear and how to move past it
I enjoyed this book. As so often happens, I was not searching for a book on this topic, but one of the author's other books, Saltwater Buddha, came up as a book I might enjoy based on some of my other book choices and I came across this title, read the summary and realized that the subject matter resonated with where I am at currently in my sport and in life in general. It is very well-written, both regarding research into the topic of fear and the author's own story and experiences surrounding his fear of relationship and those he's experienced/overcome in his extreme surf sport. I am going back and re-reading it now, especially the parts that are concerned with the science of fear. It is fascinating. I learned some things about myself which will be valuable in my own journey to overcome fear in the extreme sport that I am involved in as well as the general day to day anxiety I have begun to experience over the past year. I have renewed hope in my ability to move past these fears and anxieties.

Fear is a good thing
The Fear Project is a very good book to read. I think it can be used for athletes and blue collar individuals. It has allowed me to reflect my inner thoughts and why I push myself to be successful within myself. It also teaches us how fear actually makes us respond in a positive way if we do not allow it to shut us down

Very easy reading
This book is very accessible for ordinary people who want to understand the mechanism of fear. It does not bring any magic solution however in a very simple way the author tells many personal stories about the main subject and how he has overcome it.If you are looking for this kind of book just for understanding without suffering of fear-phobia I do recommend reading.

This book is by far one of the best books i've read in years. It balances the complicated worlds of psych and neuro with great story telling and things most people can relate to.Wonderfully written. I've read it at least 3 times.
