👏👏
My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

Beautiful color
Drake is a little dragon who likes to play outside. He observes a group of children who regularly meet in the same place and longs to join them but he’s afraid they might be afraid of dragons. His mother encourages him to approach them and a chance rescue from an apple tree brings the dragon and a boy named Bill together. Not everyone accepts the new friendship and Drake has to overcome that prejudice.Although the message can be heavy-handed, the dragon is an appealing and earnest lead. I particularly enjoyed the quick glimpse into his home life when his mother advises him in a greenhouse big enough for a family of dragons. The story is told in rhyme, which is usually unnecessary, but Yu keeps the language simple so the verses don’t have to stretch to find the rhythm.I was blown away by Dagmara Gąska’s color work, a journey in color-theory that makes every page pop. Most of Gąska’s professional portfolio is filled with dark and brooding fantasy concept work and Yu’s dragon books are an interesting departure. Drake’s brilliant shade of fiery orange stands out against trees and bushes in cool blues amid swirling clouds and blades of grass. The formatting works well on digital devices. The illustrations, locked in horizontal mode, incorporate the text boxes to keep the display consistent. At the price point, One Little Dragon is a visually stunning way to approach topics like acceptance and overcoming shyness with children.

My son liked it
Really amazing story. Chose it because my son likes dragons and we both enjoyed reading it together. Definitely looking for more books by this author for my son's bedtime story.

Who Doesn't Love a Dragon?
Every now and then I need a break from being an adult reader. Most of the time I read Young Adult because I can fill in the holes of enjoyable reading that wasn't there when I was a YA. But who can resist an illustrated book about friendly dragons? My older Kindles are usually my go-to reads as they have text-to-speech and adjustable fonts for my visual needs. These old Kindles do not do justice to picture books. Tablets and the Fire are best for children's books with colorful pictures. And the illustrations in Dragon Makes New Friends are fun. I did wonder how a child cut the apple in half, and how the boy had two feet, but one leg seemed broken(?). Maybe a child wouldn't notice these things. They were just things that stopped me.The little story was in poetry form that sound out well in my head most of the time. Then there was the word that represented the sound of a limb getting ready to break. Hopefully, this is an easy fix, how about 'creak' instead of 'creek'? Even still, this was a delightful story with fun pictures. And the message that we can be friends with others who are not like us, is one all ages of people should learn.

Beautiful Imagery and Annoying Text Boxes
I love this story for my daughter (she's not quite 2), She and I both love the imagery. I do have a complaint which is that the story writing goes off the page in some places and outside of the textbox which should have been transparent, but wasn't. When it goes off the page, you can double-tap it so that yet another textbox pops up on top of it so that you can at least read the full story, but the pop up box takes up more awkward space than the original textbox did. It's very strange that there is a bordered and back-filled textbox defaulted on the page at all. It may only seem so strange to me because most of the time the text doesn't fit in the box! It very much detracts from the page and diminishes the impact of the imagery (at least for me, i doubt my daughter cares much). Still, for the price ($.99), it was more than well worth the annoyance. Beautifully Illustrated Story About Friendship ...
Michael Yu's "Dragon Makes New Friends" is a beautifully illustrated, wonderfully written story about accepting those who may be different and about the value of friendships. It shows that each individual has an ability that may be used to help others - and that in receiving help from someone may lead to an unexpected, richly rewarding relationship. It demonstrates to children that once someone accepts another individual, others may be willing to do so.The pastel illustrations are reminiscent of the work of Gyo Fujikawa. They are done in soft colors and the actual pictures have an ethereal quality. My grandson was fascinated with the artwork as well as with the story. If you are seeking a lovely children's book that conveys a message without being preachy, then you should consider "Dragon Makes New Friends".
