Short stories
This is such a cool, well-crafted project! Muppet and Other Stories is a collection of short stories. As is often true with collections like this, some stories are stronger than others, but it works so well as a cohesive whole and is ambitious. This is the latest short story collection from Manoj Kumar Goswami, there are 15 short stories that focuses on a diverse group of people. He deftly addresses the horrors of interpersonal conflicts among Assamese locals in his collection of short stories. Regardless of their vocations, the individuals are constantly faced with a conundrum with the underlying topic of humanity. There are astute observations made about the state of the globe, as well as numerous problems and issues that the author expresses concerns about. With his admirable brevity of prose, wit, humour, humanity, and satire, he adeptly captures the ways in which people's minds can function as well as the ways in which we can interact with one another and act out in the world.I might not have appreciated every story, but I did love most of them, they illustrate the power of short stories beautifully, perceptively reflecting the darkness, fears, injustice, political turbulence, anxiety and bleakness of the world we live in yet still shot through with hope.Undoubtedly a mixed bag all around. My favourite stories were witty and perceptive, taking me inside the heads of characters who felt completely real. But even the unsuccessful ones made me appreciate the creativity and effort put forth. Even while I didn't find it quite as riveting, I still absolutely adored many of these stories.

Quite depressing, but good to read
I loved reading all the short stories. It was mind consuming, and the pace of the stories were fast. However, for some of them, I found the plot a bit lagging and the ending to be arrived in a sudden fast forward mood. The narrative was also a bit confusing for me at some places. However, as you progress with the stories, you get used to it. So to accommodate such mixed feelings I had towards the book, I am giving it a 3.7 stars in 5.
