Great for Halloween, bad instruction
This muffin mix is perfect for Halloween, the muffin came out quite tasty and looks great for the season. However, the instructions on the bag rather confusing so I ended up eyeballing the measurement. To make muffin with this mix, you’ll still need sugar, milk, oil or butter. If it weren’t for the ink color, I really don’t the point of getting this mix when you can just simply get all purpose flour and add all those ingredients. The instructions said you will need 300g of flour for 5 servings, however, the bag only has 450g so I decided to use 1/2 of the bag (225g) instead. I thought this would mean I will get less than 5 muffins but I was able to make 6 muffins easily. To bake, the instruction said to set the temperature to 190 and bake for 10 mins. I assumed they meant Celsius so I set to the oven to 375 Fahrenheit. I baked for 10 mins, took the muffin out and they were still raw in the middle. I baked it for 5 more mins and it was done.I think the muffin tasted very much like a regular muffin, I thought they came out a bit sweeter than I’d like so I’m going to reduce the sugar next time. The first muffin I ate did taste a bit weird because it tasted like fried chicken and it even smelled like it too. I still smelled the fried chicken when I ate the 2nd but it didn’t taste like it anymore.I like how the muffin came out and it tasted very good, however, I don’t think the muffin mix worth it. The amount of flour from the mix is only good for 12 muffins so that makes it $2 per muffin. I think I’d rather pay $4 for a muffin at a bakery, those muffins are 2x the size anyway so they are practically the same price.

Horrible instructions and read on…
Thought this would be interesting and wow it sure turned out that way. Firstly the list of measurements and ingredients needed are listed but then the directions tell a totally different amount of the product. Then the measurements are all in grams including milk. Why would milk not be ml like it’s supposed to be. They have it in grams. Who weighs milk???It’s says it makes 5 servings for half a bag of mix but what is a serving and how big of a muffin must we pour. I honestly had so much mix afterwards that I made like 24. The mix is very runny but you have to let it stand for 30-60 min at room temperature which I have never heard of especially since eggs are in the mix. Still was the same consistency after it sat. Baked them for 10 min at 375 f and they did cook all the way through but the horrible smell of fish through the house was no good!!! Omg what a displeasing scent! Luckily the taste wasn’t so bad but as you bit into one and chewed it up you got the smell of fish mixing in which really put me off. Was hoping the squid was just a fun new way to dye it black but that is not the case!

iffy instructions but tastes good
These are interesting muffins. The directions are terrible and contradictory, and result in a very very very liquidy batter. I'm not at all convinced they are right, especially since it contradicts itself between the list of ingredients and the written instructions. Maybe if you made the whole bag at once it would be the right amount of ingredients? But I made half, because that was the amount given in the ingredient list. I carefully measured everything with a scale, so I definitely didn't use too much. After mixing it all up and letting it sit for ~40 min (it did not thicken at all) the mix filled 8 muffin cups and as they overflowed later I probably should've done 9. I baked at 375F for 10 minutes and they were still quite liquid, so I cooked for 5 more min - 15 min total - and they were just right as confirmed with a toothpick stuck into it since you can't tell by color. I was super skeptical of them at this point. They smell a bit fishy which was not appealing, but in fact the taste is very good. They were light and fluffy and sweet but not too sweet.Overall while they were tasty and the black color was interesting, I just can't rate it higher than 3 stars due to the very poor instructions. They appear to have not been edited by anyone fluent in English, which is not reassuring for food items. And as someone who has made many muffins, I just can't believe that the ratio of liquids to dry ingredients can possibly be correct. It had potential but is way too expensive for the quality.
