From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home Paperback – Import, 13 October 2022

I bought this book after watching the series on Netflix. And for the first time, it was hard to decide if the book is better or the series. Both are great experiences in themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the boo. Since it's a real story, the emotions leave you feeling poignant. It's very well written and a highly recommended read (The events in the book are different from the series - changed for televised purposes, I guess)

I first hear Tembi on NPR talking about the Netflix Limited Series and how the book was barely written when Reese Witherspoon heard about it. I thought it sounded very interesting and soon after as it kept popping up on my Netflix, my husband and I started watching (don't worry I'm getting to the book soon).We were both so intrigued as the series progressed that we broke a cardinal rule -- we watched 2 episodes in a row because we couldn't leave ourselves hanging. Weeks after finishing, I couldn't think of them without tearing up. I knew I had to read the book because obviously, things were added and deleted and names changed.I am nearing the end of the book and I can't believe as much as I loved the series, the book has a depth of emotions and descriptions that wash over me as I read. I've looked up Sicily and the locations mentioned in the book to understand the locale and of course, now I want to visit!The book is an added layer of richness that you won't forget for a very long time.

A heartwarming true story, tinged with great sadness but proof that love can conquer many things and there is hope for future happiness
