Powerful, quiet and durable!
Awesome electric chain saw! Can't say enough about it. Bought it based on other reviews to remove some old swamp cedars and figured I'd do it myself rather than call an expensive arborist. The saw is surprisingly quiet compared to a gas saw, but it cuts just as well. The manual chain tightening adjust knob is a great feature, no gas to worry about, just add chain oil and off you go. I cut through 10-12" trunk sections like butter - no problem! Very happy with this purchase, especially for ~$120. If it never works again (which I know it will), it would be worth the savings already for my 4-hour DIY project. Highly recommended!

Amazing Chainsaw: affordable quality, corded electric with strong motor and low kick-back chain
I probably should admit right from the start that this wasn't the chainsaw I had wanted to buy. When it comes to tools I tend to evaluate how likely I'm to keep using it and if so I'm happy to pay a premium for a good quality tool that will last me a long time. If it is just for a single project or short term usage I rather look for something cheap to buy and I'm only checking reviews to see whether or not it will work for the intended purpose and what (if any) risks it poses to me or any property I'm using it on.This chainsaw doesn't fit into either the top quality (Stihl) or the bargain basement category. I had already determined that I would probably never need this chainsaw again. I only needed it for some overgrown weeds that resisted even a foot-long sawz-all blade. I was happy to discover a chainsaw at the big box stores that was getting reasonably good reviews (WEN 4017) and was even cheaper then the model offered by everybody's bargain tool supplier HF. However when I tried to buy it, nobody had it in stock. Even Amazon couldn't provide a firm delivery date for that chainsaw. However Amazon, being ever so helpful, promptly alerted me to a special offer for Oregon CS1400 and CS1500 chainsaws with next day delivery. Thanks to the special offer the Oregon CS1400 was priced just 20% higher then the bargain chainsaw I had been looking for but it also has a 20% stronger motor. This meant I ended up with a quality brand name product at a reasonable price.Having only limited chainsaw experience, I paid attention the manual (especially all the safety issues) and tips from other reviewers.I made sure the oil reservoir was full with chainsaw oil and also let the motor run idle until oil gets delivered to the chain before attempting to cut anything.Another important tip was to carefully tension the chain (there is some interaction between the tension wheel and the open/close screw for the lid) before turning it on briefly and then checking the tension again (just as some other reviewers have observed, after a brief initial run the chain tension was loose).I found the CS1400 easy to assemble and easy to use. However I do wish to remind everybody that chainsaws are inherently dangerous tools and to read and follow all safety instructions. This is a good chainsaw and i'm very happy with this purchase.

Bought for light duty use to make my own chunks of wood for smoking
I use my wood smoker to smoke peppers to make smoked paprika. A little out of the norm but it turns out fantastic. I use aged oak and basically use this saw to cut short pieces then split them using a wedge and wood chisel to get pretty small pieces. The reason I want a relatively cheap electric saw versus using my regular gas chainsaw was because, and this will sound bizarre, I didn't want the chain oil getting onto my wood used for smoking. So, to lubricate the chain, I use old peanut oil that I have accumulated. Haven't really used it a lot but so far so good. The chain is nice and sharp and seems to cut through the oak without much problem. Keep in mind, I'm cutting stuff just 6-8 inches in diameter. I really wouldn't expect to use this as a heavy duty saw for any serious work but for making my own smoking chunks, it works just like I needed it to.

The little chainsaw that could!
Have used this chainsaw for some small jobs around my place. Recently I cut down 2 apple trees and the saw performed really well. Some pieces are too large for this saw and I don't want to use it for jobs it wasn't intended to do but, overall a good little saw. One negative note though. Seems to be leaking chain oil. Won't know for sure unless I open it up. Maybe next time. Chuck approved!
