Great hammer for the 45 years I've been using it.
A once, old, experienced framer told me, that the 32 oz rigging hammer axe I was using was needless and dangerous. If I continued to use such a heavy hammer with a steel handle, that I would blow out my elbow and shoulder eventually. I listened to the old guy and now, I'm the old guy. If you young framers think your good, then you should be able to drive a nail with 20 oz's of steel, or less. If you think you can't pull out a nail with a wood handle, then you have no business being a framer. The Vaughan 20 oz hammer is the best hammer I've used in 45 years of framing. It has helped keep my elbow from blowing out, and has lasted beyond my expectations on the jobsite. I have found, if you wrap the top of the hammer where the wood goes into the steel with electrical tape, the handle will last 3 times longer. I also put some tape on the end of the handle to give me a better grip. Try it, you will like it.

Husbands favorite hammer
This was a replacement hammer for my husband. His favorite hammer was misplaced by son on a camping trip.

Poor Quality!
I have owned an Vaughan 999ML 20 oz since 2004. I remove the mill face every time because I don't just frame with it nor do I like the mill marks left behind. The smooth face ground flat doesn't have the same surface area on the head as the milled face does. This one was bought to replace one that I've been using daily since feb 2011. The quality isn't the same, claw is ground uneven, the head wasn't ground clean, sharp edges at the neck, handle grain poor and finish on the handle almost nonexistent. I have every 2 & 3 hundred dollar titanium hammer on the market, but I prefer my Vaughan over all of them. Of course I keep mine polished and sealed every few months because it's steel. I will be sending this one back for a replacement and also pick up a replacement handle for my beloved valentines gift the wife gave me.

Love my Vaughan
To light for me so I gave it to my daughter and went with the 24oz but I have used Vaughan since I started construction over 6 years ago cause my brother got me my first one and he's been in construction for over 20 years...just when you find the weight you love write it down somewhere

Didn't get what I expected
I ordered this hammer and received the 606M by mistake which is the much heavier 28 oz. version. I'm not sure if this was a packaging or inventory mistake but I didn't think it was worth returning at my cost and decided to keep the hammer for demolition use and showing nails who's boss.Check your order when you receive it.

Handle broke the first day.
I like Vaughan products. The hammer came in a reasonable amount of time. However, the grain in the handle ran horizontal to the face, so the handle broke on the first day of use. I had to replace it.
