Good read. Inspiration to let my kids be messier and learn through exploration

Lots of fun ideas to keep kids busy in here! A few are repetitive, and the book is definitely dated, but still has a lot of helpful and easy to follow ideas.

Love her philosophy and the non judgmental way this book is written. A must for all early childhood professionals. If you every have a chance to see her in person do it!

Great for parents, grand parents, preschool and primary teachers. Lots of fun activities. She has also written "Fizzle, Bubble, Pop and WOW!" and "Zooey Gooey Tooey".

From the leader in play based education, this is a resource every classroom should have. It is a great kick started to bringing play into the classroom. Well Done, Lisa.

Love the simple experiments to do

The Ooey Gooey Handbook by Lisa Murphy is one of my favorite reference books when writing science lesson plans for preschool. Each science project in the book has a list of materials needed, the science behind the experiment explained in terms for preschool age children and any safety issues to help make it safe for the children. Art and outside activity ideas are included too.I first met Lisa Murphy at an Early Childhood Conference back in the 1990's and purchased the Ooey Gooey Handbook after watching and listening to Lisa do a presentation at the conference demonstrating the science in her book. She was a dynamic speaker and had put together a science reference book for preschool teachers' to make lesson planning for science quick and easy with proven safe science experience that are age appropriate for preschool or early elementary age children.

This book is filled with some really great recipes for fun. You'll be so happy you own a copy of this book when your kid is antsy to 'cook.' The activities suggested are all really fun and demonstrate all sorts of scientific principles.
