HIghly recommended
I chose this tuner based on good Amazon reviews about it's features, and it's good price. I bought it to replace a more expensive tuner that I lost, and a more complex tuner that I've never been able to work out how to use. I love this tuner and am so glad I chose it. It's very simple, easy to set up for someone like me with no technical ability, and user friendly. Easy to read screen which clearly turns from red to green when in tune, allowing you to easily tweak the tuning to get it accurate. The feature that made me choose this particular model above other brands was it's ability to name every note on the fretboard when you pick an individual note, (just press the 'chromatic' button). As a complete guitar beginner I'm finding this a really helpful aid to learning the individual notes on the fretboard. I'd highly recommend this little tuner, great for the price, and very speedy delivery. For anyone looking for other good teach yourself guitar aids - my absolute top tip is to look at Justin Sandecoe's 'Beginners Guitar Course' on Amazon, and his own website, justinguitar.com. After buying numerous other beginners books, CD's and DVD's, I've found that Justin Sandecoe's is by far the most comprehensive, detailed, and easy to follow pack, with a great inspring and motivating teaching style. I wish someone had told me about Justin when I first started learning guitar, I could have saved a fortune and hours of searching for other teach yourself products. I'm now happily learning at my own pace from Justin Sandecoe's range of beginners books, CD's, DVD's and downloads, all at very reasonable price, with some also free on youtube. Ridiculously cheap but totally effective!
This is a truly great piece of kit for a truly ridiculously low price.I am new to guitars and to music generally - couldn't even read a single note. True, as some of the other reviewers have said this device could do with better instructions, but at this price you can perhaps expect to do a bit of digging on the internet for guidance. Believe me, if I can work it out so can you!Using it is simplicity in itself - press the "mode" button to flick through a handful of options, clip it to the headstock of your guitar, pluck a string and turn the machine head on your guitar until the display turns from orange to green to show that you have hit a particular note perfectly. Of course you have to know which note you wish to hit, but for people as ignorant as I was, one of the modes tells you which note relates to which string on a six string guitar. So for example "1E" comes up when you hit the higher E note required by the first string of a six-string guitar with standard tuning. The lower "E" note required by the sixth string comes up as "6E". A needle on the display shows you whether you are too low or too high for the note you are trying to tune your guitar into so you know which way to turn the machine head. The unit can sit happily on a table top with the swivelable display pointing towards you and in "microphone mode" it will tell you what any note played (or sung) is.I was a bit nervous about buying this unit due to the incredibly low price, but it is one of those rare products where the low price really ins't too good to be true - it does the job perfectly. You can tune your guitar in perfectly in a couple of minutes and so I do it virtually every time I play - it is just too easy not to! Even the build quality is good considering the price. I have seen this exact same product re-branded and priced at £20 in a bricks-and-mortar guitar shop.I had always intended for this product to "just get me started", but apart from the lack of a metronome which I know some tuners have I cannot see any reason to change it.

Not what I expected...but still good for what it is!!
When I purchased this tuner, my old one was totally shot to pieces, so I was desperate for anything that got my bass remotely near the right notes!! This handy little tuner clips nicely onto the head of the guitar and uses the vibrations from the strings to gauge the note. This means that the whole room doesn't have to be quiet whilst you're fiddling around with your strings, as I found with previous tuners. There is an option to tune using the mic on the product, but the vibration option is much easier and simpler, plus the mic has to be closer to the body of the guitar to pick up the sound, but that may be due to me using an electric bass rather than an acoustic instrument. It has a clear display (red for out of tune, green for good), with a needle showing you which way to tune, with options to tune a guitar, bass, violin and cello, with various frequencies to tune within and such. I've found just flicking it to bass and letting it get on with it works just fine, but the option's there if you want to mess with that kind of stuff!! It's really easy to switch between instruments and frequencies, so you should have no problem changing these settings if you so wish!!My only issue with this product is that it only tunes to standard notes, which is fine if you're only playing standard stuff. If you want to play in any sort of drop tuning, it has no idea what you're trying to do and struggles to pick up what you're trying to do!! This is really frustrating, as some of my favorite songs are in drop D tuning, and I can't get anywhere close to finding the elusive D note!! This is my only issue with the product, as it does everything else really well!!Overall, a great product that is really easy and straightforward to use, but if you're looking to tune outside of standard tuning, you're better off looking at other tuners!!
