We have an 8 - month old border collie puppy... We live on 1.5 acres of un-fenced property combining open areas and wooded areas. Our puppy had started leaving our property, crossing the street, and exploring other parts of the neighborhood.I bought this GPS collar because we needed to keep him safe and close to home, without an actual physical fence.This unit allows you to determine a circular area inside which the dog will be permitted to roam freely. From as small as a 90 foot radius, up to VERY large areas. With the collar in hand, you determine the center of the range and the GPS remembers it until it is changed by the operator.Our collar has 3 different warnings for the dog... 1) A high pitched beep, 2) An adjustable buzz/vibrate, and 3) (one we don't use) an adjustable electric shock.Our border collie is so used to this collar, I believe he might actually respect the set boundaries without actually wearing the collar... We'll see as he grows up a little more.All in all... I was very impressed with this dog fencing device, and I'm glad I bought it. It was easily set up in minutes. I would recommend this collar to anyone in a similar situation. It works great!

I initially posted a a 5 star review after using the unit for one day; however, after three days the unit failed to maintain the size of the containment field after being powered off. I used different sized fields ( 30-90 meters) after powering the unit back on and resat the perimeter size with no success. Sometimes it would alert way before the boundary and there were times it wouldn't alert until I was out on the road, which I want my dog to stay off of for obvious reasons.I registered my product and here's a follow up e-mail from the third party seller. Buyer beware! The media could not be loaded.  This GPS wireless dog fence I bought as a gift for my brother in law and his wife, they just got bought a husky two months ago and turns out a bit of an escape artist.We gave this to them this as Christmas gift and they’re so happy now , since don’t have to worry about where she is OR what she might be getting into especially in the cases where she decides to visit the neighbors or chase the chickens.The collar has three modes beeps,vibrate and shock, they used the vibrate and shock at first but now only the beep, plus battery life is great.On their own words this collar has changed our lives and now we won’t be searching for her for hours. But now when she hears her warning beep on his collar she stops right at the virtual fence line and it is incredible. The training takes some time but it is 100 percent worth it.

I like the easy set up. No cables to bury. It is effective for the dog. He learned the boundaries after 2 days. He is able to go outside and not wander to far.

Collar is kinda large for smaller dogs. Mine is 12 lbs, yes it will fit, but is kinda on the large size. Was fairly easy to set up. Biggest issue is satellite connection time. It took a LONG time to find them the first time. I'm not even sure how long it took, I waited 5 minutes, then set it down and came back to it a few minutes later. 7 minutes? I got it set up, and set a radius for our house. Walked the yard with the collar to test boundaries (set on vibrate only lol) and it seemed to work well. Did seem to vary in distance a little bit based on if it was in my hand or held flat on top of my hand. I'm guessing if it's under a dogs neck (normal position) it would potentially vary the boundaries by 10' or so. Not super accurate, but on a wide swath the dog will learn what the boundaries are regardless.Biggest issue- next time I went to use the collar... it never hooked up to satellites. I tried everything I could think of. If it takes 7 minutes to set up each time this isn't a good option for a dog that just wants to run outside for a few minutes then come back in. My dog will be done with outside time before the collar even finds a connection. Going to return and try a base station type model.Deduction of stars for poor connection time, and inaccurate product description/larger size than one would expect for "all sizes of dogs". Larger than my other training collars by about 1".

I have to check the collar before my dog goes out each time to make sure it is connected and in range. If not it will not work.

We have a pretty big dog and don’t have a fence put up in the yard so I needed something that I can put on the dog and not have to worry about them so much when they are outside running free because my dog is known for getting into trouble. he escaped a few times and loves to run like all dogs but is nearly impossible to catch. After several times he escaped I said screw this and I purchased this device and we couldn't be more happy with it. We put the collar on him when it's time to go outside and he is happy of the freedom he has within the area he has to run around. I like that you can control everything from your phone and it’s pretty simple to set up and use. This device will work with any size dog and if you are patient when setting up your perimeter you and your pet will find new freedoms and peace when your pet is outside running free.
