Great YA LGBT novel
After fully enjoying the author previous book All that's left in the world (which was one of my favourite reads of last year) I was super excited to have been sent a advanced copy in return for a positive review.Although I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous novel I still had a good time with it.The story is about Tommy who is working in the kitchens at a retirement home and is after his manager to write him a good recommendation letter to help him get into the top culinary school. However to get this he needs to complete a number of tasks one of being is helping to train a new of staff. However it appears Tommy has meet the new recruit Gabe years before (at a summer camp) and that he was Tommy first crush (and when Tommy he learned he was gay), however Gabe doesn't seam to remember and it make it worse he is already in a relationship (with other boy). Tommy takes this as a sign that he and Gabe are suppose to be together and feelings from the summer camp appear to resurface, however it isn't always easy and things can get complicated and have consequences.I really enjoyed the main character Tommy and to see his character develop throughout the story, along with the other characters: Gabe, Tommy best friends Ava, Morgan and Brad along with the rest of the works and residents at the retirement estate. They were all likeable. You couldn't help but feel for Tommy and was always hoping for the best for him, and you are left satisfied by the end that although things didn't go the way it seamed it turn out for the best. The book will relate to the audience.Although parts of the story gets a bit messy but like teenager lives things do get messy and complicated. It was a fun read.Would recommend.

Great page turner
This book at nearly 400 pages was a quick and easy to binge read.Aimed at young adults it tells the story of a 17 year old gay lad his trials and tribulations of coming out, feeling worthy and his relationships with the older generation whom he had grown close to where he works at a retirement home. It’s a heart warming mix of young meets old and the support and joy they can bring each other through friendship.A really positive story perfect for any reader not just the lgbtqa community.
