I bought this to increase the alkalinity of the water I drink. I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews involving pH strips but when I used reagent drops to test the water it is clear that the filter does indeed increase the pH of the water. I also thought the bottle seemed a bit flimsy when I first received it. However, I have been using it every day since August 2017 - all the water I drink comes out of the bottle - and I can tell you that the bottle is robust. It has been knocked over and accidentally dropped, and the lid has been open and closed several times every day, but it is still going strong; I haven't even needed to change the seal yet (it comes with an extra one).

Id give this zero stars if I could. Do not waste your time or money buying this bottle. I am new to Amazon and very sorry that I did not read the reviews before purchasing. The bottle only lasted a few weeks before it broke completely. Did I mention that the lid pops open in your bag and will wet all of your things?? Really useless as a bottle and as a water filter. Totally false advertising! The water quality is just as poor as when it comes out the tap. You are better off buying a Brita jug and filling your bottle up from that. The Brita filer works wonders and the water even tastes sweeter. MUCH better value for money.

Prefer this bottle over the Brita one any day! Yes it is much more expensive, 3 times in fact but it doesn't leak, is strong, seals well and opens easily, comes with a protective carry case and is an all round much more useful and purposeful drinking bottle. Now add the benefits of Alkaline water and you are on to a winner! The initial cost outlay seems alot for cheaper alternatives, but don't dismiss it on that basis, you get a lot more for your money. Also the filters last 2 or 3 times longer than the Brita ones, I would know I have two Brita bottles and gone through countless filter packs and seemed to be buying new filters much earlier. Alkaline water is much better for you and this larger bottle means you drink much more, less need for refills and the water turns Alkaline quickly, making it taste cleaner and crisp. I haven't tested with ph strips, think that would be the next thing to do, but after about 15/20 minutes I can taste the difference in the water. At times I have shook the bottle and not sure if that works but around here the water taste quality is really good, yet this bottle has made a difference. Worth a purchase if you want to reduce acidity and move towards a more healthier Alkaline diet.

I bought this last week and it arrived very well packaged which is always a good sign. Instructions were very easy and very simple and the bottle was ready for use in less than and hour. The more time you give the better it seems to get. London water is extremely hard and I was very surprised to notice the water tasted so smooth and none of the tap water harshness. I thought maybe I was just imagining it until I let my partner taste it and she immediately noticed the difference and seemed to really like the result. So now she has her own bottle!Now for the cons: Coming from a Nalgene bottle, this one does seem a bit cheap and less durable, especially the lid section. The refills seem to be very expensive and I am hoping they last as long as the makers claim if not longer.

I have owned and used this every day for over one year,it’s a decent item that delivers what is advertised but if I had to critique it would be the poor design of the screw top opening.Almost every time I unscrew the top to refill then screw the top back to the bottle there is always a gap for water to leak free,I have to unscrew then re screw the top multiple times to finally get the seal in place(very annoying & water everywhere)this design flaw could be easily fixed with larger thread to the screw or a lip/latex seal to secure top to bottle.

This is an edited review after one week of use. Downgraded from 5 stars to 3. The first part is the original review and the last paragraph my reasons for downgrading.I bought this for use on long mountain walks, taking water from streams. I haven't used it for this yet as it only arrived yesterday. This review is about the appearance, feel and functionality of the product. Having used all manner of water bottles this stands out for quality and features. The bottle is made of quality materials in aqua marine. The flip top opens with a push button which can be secured with a clasp. One handed operation is easy. This top incorporates a seal and protects the drinking spout. The bottle itself feels good in the hand and has imperial and metric measures up the side.I particularly like the neoprene case which offers good protection. There is a zip pocket which accommodates the spare seals which are included. Unfortunately this pocket is not big enough to carry a spare filter but maybe this is deliberate as they last a month and are a bit fragile (not an issue when in place in the bottle). The case also has a big loop for slotting through a rucksack belt, a smaller loop to put onto a trouser belt and a sturdy camera type adjustable strap with shoulder protector. The strap is attached via 2 carabiners and is detachable. The carabiners could be used to clip directly onto a rucksack harness or similar.I'm not a health freak and don't know about the merits of alkaline water. I just need a decent volume of water that is safe and easy to carry and drink from on the move. Perfect.I stand by all of the above and for most people that will be fine. However, as many others have pointed out, there is a question over the purpose, operation and effectiveness of the filter. For my intended use on mountain walks the filter simply does not work. The drinking spout and filter are not in line - any particles like organic matter, sand etc simply cannot be filtered. The filter may have some neutralising effect on foreign matter but it will take too long to work. Bottom line though is that I will take the bottle on mountain walks because of the brilliant design for carrying but I will decant into a Brita Filter bottle which does work.

I purchased this bottle because I have a chronic illness that involves lowered ability to detox (has resulted in heavy metal toxicity, among other problems). This was one of the only bottles I could find that filtered so many different toxins AND alkalizes the water. I live in a city where the water is full of minerals, so I can notice a clear difference. It does taste better and I have no doubt that it is doing my body good.In addition, the closing mechanism on the lid did break within a couple months, but I wrote to customer service, received a response within one day, and will receive a replacement lid at no cost. In the future, I will just be gentler with the bottle (I tend to be a bit careless anyway), because the product is worth the effort.YAY
