The LEGO® Batman Movie [DVD] [2017]

This is 'The Lego Batman movie'. A movie outing for the awesome Dark Knight vigilante heavy metal rocking machine version voiced by Will Arnett in 2014's 'The Lego Movie'. None of this is to be confused with 'Lego Batman the movie' which is a completely different product.So it's animated in the style of the Lego movie. Set in Gotham city. And features Batman in similar vein to how we saw him there. Being awesome enough to defeat all the villains time and time again, and save the city whenever required. When he hurts the Joker's feelings, the latter starts a scheme. In order to deal with it, Batman might just need to loosen up a little. And let others into his life.Yes, the latter bit is the same plot as 'Batman and Robin,' But don't panic, as this does it right.A hugely entertaining movie for all ages. It may feature a version of Batman who loves the Dark image, but it is one that kids can get into easily. It's got silliness galore and superb visuals. But there's also a great hit ratio of jokes which come thick and fast. Pop culture cameos. Things your nerd friends will love. And an incredible amount of references to bat comics and movies and items of days gone by. Some of which many might like to forget. But for those who know their bat trivia, this is a treat. For those who don't, they're all worth a google.It's not a send up of those though, it's a very affectionate take on such things. And amazingly for an animated cgi movie, it does manage real emotional depth to the characters and what they go through as well.It does lose a little impetus in the final third, with lots of explosions and action going on, but this is a superhero film, so it's going to do that in it's final third. So it's not much of a complaint.With some fun music also, this is a superbly entertaining bit of cinema. Well worth a watch.Things do go for a little while extra over the first half of the end credits, so keep watching for those.The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, Greek, Icelandic, Portugese.Subtitles: English, Greek, Icelandic, Portugese.The disc goes straight to the main menu when loaded with no extras or trailers.The only extra on the dvd is a fifteen minute long making of documentary, Which has more substance than the usual featurette for this kind of things, and is great fun and a good watch.There's also the usual flyer with code to download a digital version of it to a digital device.

My son watched it on TV. I got him the dvd so he can watch it anytime. He loves Lego

Batman is easily the most handsome, best looking, most intelligent, best dressed and coolest Superhero there is and ever will be. Well that’s according to him! Those around him however think he is distant, shallow, and still acts like a kid. Can he change, does he want to? And what will the Super Villain bad guys he’s always chasing like the Joker think!The inevitable follow up to the incredibly successful Lego Movie was going to have a hard time not only replicating that magic, but not letting the fans down. Sequels are notoriously difficult to pull off because the public want more of the same but it must be different, but not too different! Luckily Batman scores full marks by being just what the public wanted, more of the same but different.Concentrating as the title suggests on Batman and his relationships (or ships as he calls them) with others but mainly The Joker, Batman grows up a little with the able help of Robin, Alfred, Batgirl, and strangely enough even The Joker. Along the way all the we meet literally dozens of other villains, also given the Lego treatment, like Harley Quinn, Bane, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, The Penquin, King Kong and even Harry Potters nemesis Voldermort turns up.The animation is stunning, the action set pieces as inventive and beautifully done as you would expect, the dialogue is clever and as sharp as a razor and it looks and feels like a quality production.However it is not all thumbs up and rosy, the screenplay is a little lose , that lovely sharp and funny dialogue is often lost behind other dialogue from another character, the score often completely drowns out what is being said and the joke, reference, or story plot information is lost. The frenetic editing, loud music and characters talking at the same time is quite noticeable at times. Not that much of this makes a great deal of difference to your average pre teen, but older children and adults might notice they’re missing quite a lot of jokes and references.So although there are a couple of missteps along the way, Batman is a thumping commercial and critical success with audiences worldwide and my six year old and I laughed a lot. It has to be said however the laugh rate with the original was a little higher.

Saw this at the pictures but I liked it more on a second viewing.I love this film ...Lot's of fun and laughs.Batman, Joker and the rest are all brilliant ...I'm surprised i'm saying this but Robin is my favourite in this filmThis is Lego movie perfection imo.I'll give it a ...9/10

Bought this as only managed to record part of movie when on tv and had one disappointed four year old Grandson who loves watching this so is a very happy boy now. Good value.

THIS movie is HILARIOUS, we bought it for the grandkids to watch when they visited....BUT it is great for adults too.....Batman throwing a tantrum on the stairs in his Batcave is soooo funny.....Needs watching many times to catch everything you miss in first viewing. GREAT movie for young AND old.

I ain't no film critic so I'll keep it short, this was just brilliant and personally I thought I was a really good storie line level. My 3 kids never took there eyes of the telly and was well into the film and never moved, it even made my oldest cry twice

Worst buy ever. It was meant to be a birthday gift for my youngest son and he was left in disappointment when the movie went into the DVD player to be met with “WRONG REGION”. Extremely frustrating and false advertising.

first it took a very long time for the dvd to arrive and once it came the dvd doesn't work.

Does. Or work on our blue Ray DVD player - other dvd only items have.

We were VERY disappointed it this listing. The description did NOT say it was for PAL/European playback. Not for US consumption.
